Actually, now that some dinner has sat in my stomach for a while, even my abs don't hurt. I definitely could have rode harder today. (That I picked up the pace from 4.5 MPH to 11 MPH when the finish line was in sight meant I had plenty left in reserve.) I don't know how much harder, though. And I didn't dare try to find out since a bad case of cramping could have ruined my ride. Today was largely about riding "smart" to maximize the chances of meeting a goal, the goal being simply to finish within the time cutoffs.

What are you gonna do about it if I don't? You gonna come down to San Diego to do something about it?

Bad clutchy! Was this at the top? If so, it might be just as well, as I could barely talk up there, I was so cold.

Brandy passed me on the only part of the ride (before the finish line was in sight, anyway) where I rode at a pace that clearly wasn't an endurance tempo pace. Yup... she passed me near the top of Oak Glen. Despite my attempts to catch back up on the descent, I never saw her again until she was on her way down.

I am one tired Pig. I took some pictures but not as many as I wanted to. I'll download them tomorrow. WhiiteCarbonDude got to see me drop everything out of my pocket as I fumbled for the camera. I have to work on that.

I am mulling over several things I could have done to ride better today but I did manage to beat my time last year's time by a healthy 28 mins. Ride time 6:03 total time was 6:18 I believe.

Time to start training for heartbreak

Good job Brandy! You really kicked some butt. There were some great climbers out there today. I can't count the wimmins that spanked me on the way up. And not in a good way!

To do the times you guys did must have taken some dedication and hard training. My hat is off to all of you!

The same today. Glad you introduced yourself. The other 19, I had to ask,"Are you Clutchy? Are you Lopez? Are you Jason? Are you grumpy?"...I get lots of strange looks!

Now I can officially say I'm the slowest climber in the bunch, started at 6:10, and finished at 3:35. All in all it was not a bad ride. I just took my time and tried to enjoy it. From Barton Flats up, it was a real mental challenge. You just get tired of all the climbing. I guess I'm going to have to get an Ipod. 3 out of the 6 people that I was riding with, said they couldn't have finished the ride without them. It really took their minds off the monotony of the climbing.

Well, you know I'm a hardass on the whole music thing, but I will say, you were climbing, so anything that motivated is a plus (I would have quit, and I'm worried about Sea to Summit). Regardless of your IPOD use , you represented the women quite well. Hell.. you represented the MEN well!

Congratulations to everyone who finished. This is something to be proud of!

Well, I finished...barely! I made the mistake of ridding harder than I should have. I did finish with a better time than last year. Last year 6:39.....This year 6:18. I must be doing something right.

Speaking of doing something right, Caligurl did a great ride! She also improved her time from last year ( 8:20 ) to………………….…drum roll please…….…….....( 7:32 )! All most an hour off last years time!

It was great to see all of the BF folks. Sorry I was not as friendly as I should have been at the top of onyx but the pain prevented any niceties.

Feel better this morning but that could just be the coffee! Of course Caligurl was up early doing a work out…fricken crazy.

Congrats! I think this means every participant from the SoCal BikeForums group finished the entire ride. Congrats again, everyone.

I'm feeling pretty good at the moment. A tiny tiny bit of a saddle sore, but no muscle aches. Just way too sleepy this morning, so I rescheduled some of my lab work from early morning to late afternoon.

Great job on both accounts. And tell Cali - SHE was representing too! I'm really being sincere in my amazement. I'm about to head out on a recovery ride (for Bob not me) into the hills, and I'm dreading it (not the ride, but the climb for sure as I'm out of climbing shape). I can only imagine the pain you guys went through yesterday.

And I agree with Jason - everyone who rode this ride should be proud of themselves and out treating themselves to pancakes this morning (might I suggest a place )
