Wow, nice pics! :) Too bad that I'm a chicken **** and can't mtbike!

Nice pics. Kind of looks like a place I went MTB'ing near Idlewild. Herky Creek I believe. We climbed up some old waterfall then across a beautiful green meadow. It was so quiet I could hear my heartbeat.

Great pics ... so that's what it's like mountain biking ... I don't have one ... was stolen couple of years ago, and never had the inkling to get a replacement.

Well, actually, a very sweet mtbking chick who is on this forum (and a roadie too) GAVE me a beautiful red mountain bike. I'm still scared though. :o

I need to go mountain biking again. Maybe it's an excuse to buy a new bike.

Methinks a Dirty Girl ride is in the making. We could even make it a beginner's clinic type thing.

ME, I know you love those Assos-clad roadie boys, but there is something about a grubby guy in baggy shorts...leaves just enough to the imagination...

Oh, I'd love to join you women...especially if you know where the grubby guys in baggy shorts are abundant. ;) But, I promise you that I am a fire road only kind of rider. I'm petrified of single tracks (won't go down them. I'm like a goat and just freeze and won't budge). But I'd be up for something a little less treacherous. :)

Saturday, Sept. 1: CORBA’s introduction to mountain biking skills class. Mark Langton, 805-558-1606. This class is offered FREE by CORBA (Concerned Off-Road Bicyclists Association) on the first Saturday of each month at Malibu Creek State Park. This class is designed for the entry level mountain biker, but even contains valuable tips for experienced riders. Instructors teach solid fundamental mountain bike skills that will allow the beginner to progress quickly. Check the CORBA website or call Mark Langton for more information. Directions: Two options: (1) From South Bay Area (From SF Valley one can figure out directions from this option), take 405N, 101N, exit at Las Virgenes, at the off-ramp turn left, go south about 3.3 miles. After crossing Mulholland Road, the park entrance is on the right hand side. (2) Take 405N, 10W, PCH north, turn right on the Malibu Canyon Road (corner of Pepperdine University), which changes to Las Virgenes, continue about 5 miles, and the park entrance is on the left-hand side of road before you get to the Mulholland Road, which has a traffic light. There is $10 fee (varies) to park inside the park; otherwise, you can park at the intersection of Mulholland Road and Las Virgenes and then ride you bike to the meeting site inside of the park. The class starts at 9:00 a.m., but you should be there no later than 8:45 a.m.

I wear spandex on the trail. Singletrack I'm fine with. It's the really rocky stuff where I wuss out.

Can I ride behind you? You know, to check out your...er...technique. :D

I've heard of it actually, but I'm always on some road ride, so I never make it...:o

That really sounds like fun, I'm sorry I missed it for this month. Even if you already know most everything from the introductory class, it would be a great way to meet Mark and see if you want a more advanced lesson.

I'm the guy that likes Mountain biking, but I get off and walk around rocks bigger than my head.

The great thing about Mark is that he will take the time to tailor his free class to more advanced riders that show up so you'll still get something out of it even if you're not a beginner...
