Oct 13 dinner interest and planning thread

BikeForums Foo regular aprilm is visiting SoCal in October, and I am hoping the SoCal peeps can welcome her over a dinner on Saturday, October 13. Exact time to be determined, but it won't be too late an event since many of us will be riding the South Bay Fun Ride (linky) the next morning. I hope many of you can make it, and to help make that possible, we are going to take a poll as to where the meal should be held. There are two options currently being considered:

(1) Have dinner in the San Diego/La Jolla area, probably at Cozymel's in the UTC area.
(2) Have dinner in Orange County, probably near Irvine.

If you think you may be able to join us for dinner that night, please vote as to which location is more likely to work for you. And if you vote Orange County, if possible, please suggest a place for this gathering.

[EDIT] Also, please post if you vote. While I will be using the vote count as a handy reference, I will be checking against actual posts to guage interest and ambiguous votes like DaveSANYYZ's.

I'll be ok for dinner. Either way is fine as long as it's not too far north/deep into LA. My pref is San Diego.

Hey, no fair posting before the poll's up!

I'll be there, of course, regardless of location.

Well, I didn't know it's a poll!

I've picked San Diego only; LA one depends on location.

I got the first vote!!!

I vote OC, simply because I'm heading up for the Long Beach Marathon (husband announcing, not me running ) so I might actually be able to attend a BF event! So I don't actually have any clue about restaurants in the area.

Well, to me OC and stuff are all LA. I'm geographically challenged. You can confirm with Louis/NDG. While following GPS directions, I missed 2 turns on the drive up to GMR, and took a wrong turn on the way back to SD.

Oh yea. I thought the 1st one is total.

I hear there's excellent steak there. Warren Buffet strongly recommends Gorat's. Sounds like fun, but I can't very well go to dinner at Gorat's while entertaining a guest in SoCal, can I?

By the way, don't forget that there's a post-ride meal on the 14th in Manhattan Beach (linky) that I hope many of you will attend, too.

I voted San Diego, but it's a lie. I'll probably show wherever it is, but I have a strong preference.

I would like to do the South Bay Fun Ride and I won't drive to ElAy twice in a weekend, so I voted for SD.

BTW does aprilm get to vote at least twice? This is her visit after all.

I vote for the Olive Garden in Carlsbad across from the MS150 overnight gathering.

She gets absolute veto power. But she told me she's fine with either option but the more the merrier.

voltman and Extort, that sounds like a possibility. Close enough to hopefully get most of the SD voters but far enough north to draw some of the OC voters. I'm definitely happy to entertain other possibilities.
