Last Minute Palomar
I'm bailing on the Baldy ride tomorrow because I've already driven to Encanto Park once this weekend. However I still feel the need for some climbing.
I plan to start at 7am at Harrahs and go to the Observatory. From there it could be a straight return or possibly a descent down East Grade. It doesn't appear that it will be all that hot (low 80's) at lower elevations.
Anyone care to join me?

humm there is a fire in Julian, but the winds are coming from the coast so it will push the smoke away from Palomar.

That means he will be forced to ride fast. My smallest gear is a 39x23. If you don't have a triple or a compact, you are forced to ride faster. Ask my wife, who destroyed people on her first trip up GMR two weeks ago.

I did have fun. I got a bit of a late start too - I didn't roll out of the Harrah's parking lot until 7:45. It was a near perfect day. Slightly chilly at the start and it never got hot. Didn't make it to the Observatory because I wanted to get back early. I only saw five other cyclist the whole morning - strange with such nice weather.

They were all on the 395 and Lilac loops. I saw close to 50 riders, alot of 2-4 person groups with a good mix of solos out there. It was a nice day for sure, we ended about 11 and the last climb up from the golf course wasn't bad at all.
