Group Rides in Glendale/Burbank/La Crescenta Area?

I've been riding road for a bit less than a year. I normally ride alone and once in awhile with a buddy or two. Are there any good group rides for someone like me, who isn't used to riding in big groups? I heard of the "Love Ride," that starts sunday mornings from the L.A. Zoo parking lot in griffith park and goes over La Tuna Canyon to the Montrose area. I tried this once and never found anyone else in the parking lot of griffith park. Are there any rides any socal riders can recommend?

-thanks
Z

Sat. & Sun. rides try the SFVBC thread on this forum, and their web site which is linked in the first post on the thread. You might also watch for herbm since he rides fairly regularly with a few people from the Burbank area, or jpcpnrad, and merider1 who do some rides during the week in the evenings which have been in the Rose Bowl area (Pasadena night rides thread) since the fire closed down a large part of Griffith Park.

Do try the SFVBC rides, every Sat and Sun at CSUN at 8:00. Herbm is a nice guy in Burbank, he could show you the ropes.

I would be interested, Unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, I already did my ride for the day early this morning. I'll try to remind myself next week for next wednesday.

Thanks.

Sunday morning at the Griffith park Zoo parking lot at the north end. After 8 riders will start to filter in . 2- 3 groups leave at various times up to 8:30. Usually the faster groups leave earlier.

+1 That's probably the best group to do a first group ride with, because they expect people of varied abilities to be there and they break off into smaller groups during the ride. There is often plenty of space between riders (not great for drafting, but great for safety).

They're doing a 42 mile ride starting in Tujunga this Saturday. I'd do it, but I have an obligation I probably won't be able to get out of (but the wife is letting me ride Sunday to compensate)
