Mt. Hollywood closed

I just rode up through Ferndell and there's security posted at the entrances to get up to Mt. Hollywood. He says they're seeding the burnt areas with helicopters tmr. He also said it will be closed for a long time. That includes hikers, horse riders and cyclists! He wouldn't give me a definitive answer on how long is a long time. The security guy also said the reason Mt. Hollywood is closed to vehicular traffic is because of the number of bodies that use to be dumped up there . I'lll miss going up to Mt. Hollywood. It's a quick workout with nice views and no traffic.

You can still take ferndell

You can still take ferndell and make the right or go through the tunnel to go up to the obs. But you can't make a left and jump the gate and go up Mt. Hollywood. That's where the security is posted.

Why would they close trash truck hill? There is no burn area until you reach the very top....

tt hill is open

TT hill is still open, but you can't make the right at the top where it's gated. I went that way yesterday and it was still opened, but the security says they have an guard posted now at that gate.

Was in GP tonite...
The word is it will reopen 10/28
We saw one of the large fire choppers dropping a green mixture on the hills....
seed, fertilizer, coloring...

What sucks to me is they allow horses up there and hikers...but no cyclists...

Based on what I've read, the main roads (ie. those that are normally open to traffic) are okay. The ones that are closed are those that you have to gate-hop. So you can get up to the Observatory up Vermont. Not sure about Western Canyon Road. I've seen that closed off and on over the last few months.

You can still ride up Vermont or Western through Ferndell all the way up to the observatory even though Ferndell is closed to regular through traffic. In fact, I'm riding up there through Ferndell Park later on today.

Are you sure they won't stop you? I ask because the last time this happened (a little after the actual fires), they blocked that off and no one could get up Ferndall. I like climbing that and could even do repeats on it if all else fails.
