DiNotte head-light and tail-light sale this weekend!

I just posted about this on another thread, but think it's worth it's own thread.

I got this email today from DiNotte. I love my 200L lights, and plan on ordering the tail-light through this deal. IMHO, two of the 200L's would satisfy just about any lighting need most roadies might have.

You do have to supply your own rechargeables AAs and charger, but that's easy enough, and you can get the latest, highest capacity batteries for a reasonable price. Something like this is a good start: http://thomasdistributing.com/shop/p...0a1848515809e7

Enjoy!

Which lights do you have and how do you like them?

Scootcore 10-25-07 10:02 PM

i have the the 200l and the lithium tail light all running off of the same battery....amazing......years ago i had the aa headlight as well...it still kicks butt....these are the best lights around for raod riding...small, bright, and lite

I've got a 200L. Nice light, works well, though by itself isn't bright enough to cut through the variance from streetlight to dark to streetlight you commonly run into in LA. On the plus side, it's much brighter than the normal LED light and is definitely noticeable, gives off enough light that I can ride at about 20 mph, and takes about a minute and a half to mount or dismount on your bike. It's also light.

FWIW I got mine on sale at performance a month or two ago with a 20% off coupon for $129 and change with batteries and charger, no shipping delivered to the shop, which is probably a better deal than the one at dinotte. I'm tempted to pick up another, though, to have one to aim high and the other low, and to expand out a bit the light halo.

There's a thread that came up in the last day or so on that has links to photos showing a single 200L, double 200L and 600L light outputs on the road. The one showing the 200L is pretty accurate IMHO. I don't remember if it is in SoCal, electronics & lighting or the road forum.

I also bought one when it was on sale, but it was an older model with less lumens and a short cord. I ended up buying a newer one with 200 lumens and a longer cord. Both of which I'm very happy with. One on the bar, and if need be, one on the helmet.
I might try that high/low thing.
Anyway, they are great lights.

DaveSANYYZ 10-25-07 10:56 PM

Nice. Lucky I didn't get one when Nashbar had it on sale. Hehehe. I have a Fenix flashlight being delivered. Let's see how they compare. :D

jsigone 10-25-07 11:01 PM

let me know when you get your Fenix, I'm thinking of ordering 2 next week.

DaveSANYYZ 10-26-07 12:38 AM

FWIW, the sale starts NOW.

Sewellymon 10-26-07 01:15 PM

i run dinotte on both helmet and handlebar, plus the tail light is the absolute ****ZZLE

Drew12 10-27-07 06:15 AM

OK, two questions for those that already have this light.

1) ALL I need is 4 AA batteries and a charger to make this function? ( which I have)

2) can it be used for Mtb, or will it shake too much? ( that is, poor bar mount?)

dobber 10-27-07 06:46 AM

Nice tail light. New mount is great, but I wish they'd offered it at a discount to previous buyers.

The mount is rock solid.

genedoc 10-27-07 07:56 AM

Does anyone use one of these mtb and is the 200L bright enough for off road use?

efficiency 10-27-07 09:01 AM

I'm bought the headlight and the tail-light wondering about their offroad capabilities as well. I poked around and found this:
http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?p=1377408

It seems that the light (at least the version Dinotte had in 2005) was definitely bright, with a nice wide beam pattern, with the drawback being that it doesn't project as far down the trail as you might want for going fast. If you have a helmet mounted spotlight, you'd be completely set.

Drew12 10-27-07 10:21 AM

cha ching....

Purchased.
My first light, and as the review posted was from 2004, and this is a new for 2007
version, my guess is it's now brighter. ( I think by 3-5W)

OK, Night riding here I come!

Sewellymon 10-27-07 10:21 AM

yea what eficiency said.

i ride dirt at night. have handlebar + helmet mount. it's all good..

Cyclon 10-27-07 10:24 AM

I already have a 200L, but I passed on the info and one of my friends bought one. When I first got the 200L, I showed off the light to him and he was mighty impressed.

roadfix 10-27-07 10:27 AM

So what's the run time like on this 200 lumen light?

Drew12 10-27-07 10:29 AM

Web site says 1.5 - 2hrs.
AA rechargable batterys are cheap, so for 9 bucks you just put a fresh set of
AA in.

efficiency 10-27-07 11:55 AM

I got the Sanyo Eneloop NiMH AA's from Amazon.com. These are the type that have a low self-discharge rate, so you can charge them and leave them on the shelf ready to go. I have like 20 of them.

Drew12 10-27-07 03:26 PM

Ordered the Light at 9am.
Received an eamil at 11:30am it shipped.

If true, thats 2.5 hrs from order to shipping...
impressive!!!

aznvegieboi 10-27-07 05:47 PM

just ordered the light, hope its bright

efficiency 10-27-07 06:12 PM

So that I can take flight, in the night

Hey thanks for the tip. So much of what I do is spur of the moment...it's a drag when the rechargables are almost dead...
