Any rides this weekend**********

Looking to get in a long ride either Saturday or Sunday, prefer something 50+ with some climbing. I'm still trying to "break in" in my new bike

Jeff, OC Velo is doing a ride on Saturday in PV. Looks about 50 miles, 4-5000k feet. I may or may not join them, depending on what I'm riding on Friday.

SFVBC is doing 84 miles up Angeles Crest from CSUN. I've always wanted to do Angeles Crest.

Up Angeles Crest to Upper Big Tujunga to Angeles Forest and down Big Tujunga. I'd like to do it if my back isn't hurting then. Maybe just do the climbing part starting from home. R.J. and Carrie said they were in.

Yeah, I plan on riding from home and meeting them where they turn off from Foothill. That will make it 64 miles for me. Hope your back gets better.

Thanks for the well wishes, Brian. Did you check the route? I think it goes some back way through a residential area before Angeles Crest.

Yes, it makes a few turns off Foothill before joining Angeles Crest. I plan on waiting for the group at 8:30 at Foothill and Alta Canyada. Thanks for checking up on me, though.

I think that would be Alta Canada. If you take that it hits AC up at the park on the first bend. If you go that way you miss the Shell station, and coming from CSUN ,you should fuel up before heading up. Remember that the Forest is closed. I have in the past stopped at Clearcreek for water when the forest was closed but I remember that Red Box was roped off. I guess Upper Big T is open? I'll probably start in Glendale and come up Verdugo to A.C. and try and hook up with anyone coming that way. May just head on to Newcombs, they will be open.

Yeah, but it's spelled Canyada for our unedumuated folk... just like the Mohave Desert Anyway, if you see someone on a Litespeed in a red/yellow club jersey heading up Foothill, say hi.

Is that still happening? The air must be horrible out that way!
I looked at the OCW website and they have only 43 riders registered (out of a 300 rider limit).
We actually had a ride out that way scheduled, which was canceled out of concern for air quality. Might want to check on that before you drive all the way out there.

If you want to ride locally, we have a pretty good size group forming.
:-)
