I went to the Opera last night.
La Boheme @ The LA Opera House.......I highly recommend it.
I'm not "cultured" in any way and I don't know jack about the arts but, it was outstanding.

I'm too un-couth for Opera. Besides, I don't understand latin, or french, or italian, or whatever fru fru language they are in. However, I will appreciate a good broadway musical, like "The Producers" ...

I've see a two opera's Macbeth, and Phantom. The only one I enjoyed was Phantom of the Opera. Does that count? I fell asleep during Macbeth, I can't remainder what language it was in either. LOL

There's no need to read subtitles. Just read up on the story beforehand and lose yourself in the music.

Yeah we were "low"...fourth row, stage right. The set changes were amazing...the female lead for some of the performances is from Latvia, by the way. I've never heard a more powerful voice in my life.
I barely read the "subtitles"...(they are called "supertitles" in the program guide)...I don't understand Italian either, didn't read the synopsis of the Acts so I could let myself get pulled along by the music, watch the background performers (there were 50 people on stage during some of the scenes including 20 children who were singing as well) and was able to follow the story. There is a lot going on in many of the scenes with the main performers but in the background they never stop acting or moving. It is very cool.
