Perhaps Burberry makes $500 seat bags? You still won't be as snobby as those Carradice owners (not naming names)... but close.

See those little buckles at the bottom? That Burberry IS a saddlebag.

For $500 you could upgrade Patsy with Dura Ace, Sram or Campy.

No, my aunt is not easy to fool and she will want to see a picture of me with the bag. I love her and since she gave me the money to buy it, I feel a familial obligation to her. She is the same aunt (and my uncle) who sent me $1,000 just for a rainy day. Their generosity is appreciated so I try and respect her wishes. She's trying to get me to act like a lady.

Thank God she doesn't know about this forum and won't ever log on. :p

I don't know the difference. :o Is Dura Ace a brand like Campy? And are they anything like Shimano?

Well, obviously not the entire set, but a component or two. Anything besides another purse.

Or shoes!

I gotcha....that is what I was going to suggest ME....certainly cheaper than a new bike...

Dura Ace is the highest level of Shimano....
Next down is Ultegra
then 105...
I think yours is similar to mine and is 105 based...
Campy is a whole different brand...and can start a major debate as Shimano vs Campy...
Sram is shimano compatible....sort of....

Okay, here's what you get:

The Rapha Race Bag - $425

Description: Carry all your gear to races in style with this exclusive Rapha holdall. This limited edition bag is handmade in England by the country's leading leathergoods craftsmen. The tough canvas body, leather details and oversize metal Riri zip will withstand the roughest treatment by baggage handlers or team staff. A separate zipped pocket at one end of the bag keeps dirty tools away from your race kit.

Large enough to fit a helmet, shoes, and all the clothing you'd ever race in -- even the bulky kit required for February and March races

Solves both problems: Spend all that cash on a bag, and is actually something you'd use.

merider1 12-26-07 03:13 PM

Mo, you're cracking me up. It is so sweet of you to go shopping for me, but darling, it will have to be a handbag. I'm going to Coach. They last a long time, and that's all I really know about them.

But maybe I can spend $300 on the bag, and use the other $200 on something bike related. I just have to find a bag worth $500 marked down to $300 - then I'm not lying when I say I bought a $500 bag. :)

ok...thats better then...
I would still consider photoshopping a picture....
then with the Budget Bikes gc you would have close to enough to do a pretty major upgrade to patsy...you get a purse...whats in it for her? I know shes saying that!! I know it!!!

Well, that might work. But as far as what's in it for my aunt, she just wants me to have a nice bag. I can compromise. But as far as the money on Patsy goes, I doubt I'm upgrading her to anything. For now, I have to get her spoke fixed! I may save the money and buy a new bike in the next year, something I wanted to do this year but got too wishy washy to do.

Or maybe I'll take up water polo, as I want to play with their balls:

Oh. You mean that I'm thinking of taking up water polo? I think she'd encourage that. Safer than cycling. :)

uh oh...patsy's upset now....

I'm not sure what position I'd start off in, but no doubt I'd go down under a few times. I'd better work on holding my breath for longer stretches than I already can. :)

just nice to carry around in/on the camelbak on MTB rides or long roadie rides up the mountain.

this one is very small, 2 1/2" closed with a blade less then 2" long. very light weight and easy to store.

Chucklehead 12-26-07 09:17 PM

i usually carry this;

helps keep the odd coyote or dragon at bay when needed.

for xmas, my brother (in Germany) sent my dad one of those with a shield from Ireland with our family crest on the shield
