Who rode into work today?

Anyone crazy enough, or out of their minds enough to ride in today? There were some up here in Bay Area nuts enough to do it.

I rode about 15 miles this morning and finished just as the first drops fell.

Took rides today and yesterday along the river during breaks in the rain. Air felt nice and clean.

Well, I rode AT work today! 14 miles during lunch under partly sunny skies that have now clouded over. Kinda cold but not too bad.

I really won't ride to work again until the Spring when the days are a bit longer. I'd rather not ride in the dark. So I need decent light at 7:00 am and also at 4:30 pm. If gas prices keep moving up, I'm going to try to ramp up my commute from once a week to twice by bike. (other days are a problem as I have other workouts plus have to take our daughter to school on the days my wife works.)

Under Armour ColdGear Hood:
I just got one afew weeks ago. It's totally awesome. It also has more "wear" options than other balaclavas (neck only, neck + face, head only, head + face). It definitely helped the one morning my thermometer read 33 degrees...

I rode in this morning...cut my commute short (I lengthen it to add Newport Coast Dr.) because I hit snooze about four too many times. Oops. 13 miles and it was 47 degrees when I left.

That's nothing. I saw a guy who said he had ridden from HB and still had 13 miles to go.

I didn't ride today... Probably won't tomorrow either. Hopefully on monday next week. It's one of the non-perks of donating blood.

Well, losing a pint of blood when you weigh as little as me (130 lbs) is very noticable. I don't get quite as tired as i used to when donating blood before i started cycling, but i'd rather not take any chances...

Whatever makes you comfortable. I did not want to imply what you were doing is wrong. I just happen to not be sensitive donating blood. However, I can't stay in a hot spa (104+) for more than a couple of minutes without feeling nauseated. It is just a physiological thing I guess.

Thanks for donating, that is the important part of all of this,

I rode in today (second time this week) and it was 44 F when I left this morning.

Wow, how much further is it if you lengthened your commute? My commute is 13 miles and as much as I like riding into work, I try to get into the office as soon as I can to avoid the cars who are also commuting with me.

There's a direct route that is 8 miles. My route today was 13. My typical route is 20.

My short route would be 11 miles, but that would mean riding with cars going 60+ mph... so I choose to not go in that direction. Plus, it's the route where they found the body yesterday (La Tuna Canyon).

So, my commute is longer, but safer.

When I first bicycle commuted (1987) I was doing pre-work rides. After a 20 mile ride one morning, it dawned on me (see what I did there?, oh, nevermind) that if I just pointed my bike in the direction of the office I would already be there. That started it and I did it continuously until I stared working from home.
