Man bikes dog! Fun, um, tail!

A teacher and his dog pedal their way from the top to the bottom of the Western Hemisphere. With photos and video and his own story:

Thanks, David. Nice story.

Have you heard of this family?

http://familyonbikes.org/

Nancy posts here regularly and they are planning to bring their dog along with them, also. I'm sure she will really enjoy reading that.

Nice story Dave. It's good to know that such people exist, and hopefully accomplishes his goal.

In looking through some of the other video clips of your segments, I also want to compliment you on the exposure you are giving to the cyclist vs. motorist issues, and your objectivity. We definitely need more of this type of exposure. Now I have to go and finish filling the tube of my frame pump with lead.

Great story, David. Don't want my dogs to see it though. They'll start wanting to come along for the ride.

Thanks so much!

Thanks for all the kind words! And thanks to those of you who checked out other stuff on my site. Not only are the stories about cyclists fun, I also hope they raise non-cyclist awareness that there are real people behind the bright spandex! (I'll get back to you who have emailed me.)

Hey Dave,

I grew up in Santa Ana and remember having to get the Register from the driveway for my dad since the late 50's, early 60's (morning and afternoon editions). I don't agree with their Libertarian bent, but very much respect the fact that they tell you up front just what they believe and aren't afraid to say so unlike most "newspapers". Just curious, my next door neighbor growing up was Steve Fryer, do you know him or do you do most of your work at home?

It's very cool to have someone in the press that rides and writes about it, keep it up!

Yes, Steve is doing great. While I'm in the office in my regular job as News Director it's Steve who gets to run around. Great guy! (Sorry, but I have to say that Libertarian thing is confined to the two Commentary pages just for the record.) Thanks!

That's good to hear about Steve, he's always been a great guy.

I know that, but those were my favorite pages of the paper.

Not all of us real people are wearing bright spandex, either...

Since we are getting so chummy, I believe that you and I have met before in real life, David.

I'll PM you about it...small world.
