You know your in so-cal when...

Every single damn store you go into has a Pinarello Prince fully built haha. I'm so tired of seeing that damn bike when I go in to get some Co2 its damn depressing. One kid at the store had the audacity to tell me that if I was going to look at a Pinarello FP5 I might as well check out the Prince...yah I mean ****, if your going to spend 5k whats 5k more. HAHA.

Heck, in the winter, the only time to ride is at night!

You know your in so-cal when you got cut off by a guy driving a Ferrari.

I did night rides in January in Minnesota, they just sucked a lot harder.

You get yelled at by a redneck in a pick up truck that cost $100,000.

curiouskid55 04-04-08 08:09 AM

...your Saturday morning group ride has 200 people in it.

. . . people riding are dressed for an arctic expedition when the temp is 60 degrees F.

I was drooling at Hi-Tech Bikes yesterday and there was guy in getting fitted for a REALLY nice Tri bike that left in a HUGE red truck. It was just a little strange seeing a cyclist in this huge gas guzzling vehicle! :)
I'm not sure he was a redneck, but....

(I drive a Miata and yes, I'm secure in my manhood!) :D

...when you want to pick up a dictionary and a style manual and beat the kapok out of people who still haven't learned the difference in a second-person possessive (your) and a second-person present-tense contraction (you're = you are).

huboon 04-04-08 09:09 AM

...a driver on a cell phone has no idea he almost ran you off the road. Oh nevermind, that happens everywhere now.

Funny you mention that...

Didn't actually get cut off by a Ferrari but was cycling on a Sunday morning last summer and got passed by a Ferrari, so I thought to myself wow that's pretty neat!, and then they just kept coming.... Turns out it was some sort of car club heading out to drive the canyons. I was passed by a total of 17 Ferrari's that morning, everything from old Magnum PI style up to brand new cars that still had the dealer plates. It was a trip.

esammuli 04-04-08 10:35 AM

.... When you see a Lamborgini with a Cervelo on a trunk rack. Yes, I've actually seen this.

Yeah, I always just have my limo driver cart my Cervelo around. :D

When the Capoforma winter line is in the 80% off box in February.

photonick 04-04-08 11:55 AM

You know you in so-cal when you hear a women say how she never rides in the same breath as she mentions her brand new cervelo then picks up a pinarello and complains its too heavy.

A guy I used to work for had a Testerosa with a USCF sticker in the back window..I always thought that was a nice touch

UmneyDurak 04-04-08 02:51 PM

It's cloudy and PCH is deserted. :D

photonick 04-04-08 03:01 PM

If you get out really really early (6:30 to 7am), you'll be fine. Pick up some tail wind through Malibu on the way back at 25mph and you should be good to go. Just wave the cars around ya and watch out for doors opening in your path.

Nope, Elizabeth Lake Road in Leona Valley. Presumably they were heading to Bouquet or San Fransisquito

Luwin1026 04-04-08 03:51 PM

When 99% of the homeowners don't do their own lawns.

Where it starts sprinkling and besides every local news channel doing Doppler 7000 coverage of "STORM WATCH 2008!!," you get everyone on the damn freeway driving like a skittish and blind 13 year-old. On their cell phones.

photonick 04-04-08 03:52 PM

is 15mph 2 slow to be on pch? i'm going slow cuz i've never gone past 80 miles.
