That photo looks like East Grade... but if it is South Grade we should stake out the water spigots about a half mile before the top... free water, plenty of room and on a curve so you can see them coming up the hill and then almost all the way up to the top for the stage win...

Isn't the race in February? You might need that suit; especially if it's insulated.

I read the article about the Palomar finish but I'll bet they finish somewhere else. I'm guessing North County Fair or downtown.

Still no official finish line but it won't be at the top of Palomar.

Amgen Tour

I am so pumped that lance is in the tour this year. Anybody know if there are going to do the same type of VIP car ride stuff they did last year?

Same here, I can't wait to see Lance up on my favourite local hill!

So if it's true and they are not finishing at the top, I guess they will be closing both East and South grades?

We definately need a bf palomar mtn contingency for the race. I'll run with the flag and someone else can wear the Captain America suit.

I saw we all run up the hill dressed as El Diablo Rojo wearing tidy whities.

Today's San Diego Union Tribune quoted a race offical that said they would ride Palomar mountain. Since they are supposed to start in Rancho Bernardo....and finish in Escondido

My guess of the route would be: up Highland Valley road to Ramona, Old Julian Hwy out to Santa Ysabel, out to Palomar, up South Grade to Mothers, down East Grade, head east to climb Cole Grade up to Valley Center, and down one of many possibilities into Escondido.

Anybody know the actual route yet?

Been riding these roads for 25 years, it is going to crazy to see the pros motor up these climbs that I have suffered on at 10 mph or less

Wouldn't you have to head west to Cole Grade Road from Palomar?
Plus, If they're going to go up South Grade after coming from Santa Ysabel, that would mean they'd have to repeat the section of Hwy 76 between East grade and the South Grade fork. That would be a little funky.

Don't need your stinkin' gold star. Just show up in your tidy whities and do your part.

Are you using code words or are you really talking about underwear? Never mind, I don't think I want to know.

We'll be picking up a pair for you, too.

You're a thong guy, right?

I saw the stage finish in Valencia last year. It's a pretty different perspective being a spectator of a race. Also nice having a spot 200m from the finish right up against the fence. They're not ending in Valencia this year but hopefully I can get the time to watch the Pasadena finish. Any idea if they're coming over the 2 (Angeles Crest) from Valencia into Pasadena? I'm sure they'll finish in Pasadena like last year on a circuit.
