I'm doing Breathless Agony but not this one. I'm kind of fed up with Planet Ultra.

Good, you probably have a race that weekend, please don't do this ride as you would crush us mere mortals.

Despite what I said after last year (...never, ever, not ever again... etc., etc.) I'm in for the series. I just decided I'm going to kick this thing's ass.

Who's started "climbing training" already?

I've been riding continuously all year, but I noticed a lull in Nov. and Dec... just didn't have as much juice. The last week or two has been better. I think I needed a break in the intensity, it was a pretty busy year for me.

I'm in for Mulholland, but only the century this year (died on the double attempt last year).

Also signed up for Breathless Agony earlier today.

Like Frank and Lee said: Climbing training is all year long.

"steep sustained climbs of 12-14% with pitches up to 18%. Unless you're a super strong climber, we suggest a triple crank, or at least a 30 cog in the back"

DUDES!......that would KILL my old @SS!!.........just sayen.......

I'm old too and use a 34/27 as my lowest gear. I've come close to finding my minimum speed before falling over. Hopefully not this year.

Yeah... Decker... Piece of *****e... PU should place decker as the last climb, that would just be a serious massacre. That and the crappy downhill run before decker, I'm surprised more peeps don't crash there.

Why do places like Malibu, Rancho Santa Fe and La Jolla have such poor road surfaces? You'd think they'd have fresh asphalt with an attendant to dust.

Standing to climb at one point, I actually did a little wheelie on Decker, and almost fell over. Is it just me, or is the sandbagging starting a little early this year? Might as well get an jump on that too.

Because it's an indication by them (township) for you not to be on that road.

That's nothing. Last year on Decker I coughed up a lung, fell over, tumbled down the road and died of a broken neck.

Fortunately I got better.
