Interesting you mention this, this evening as I was riding on KVR I thought it would appropriate to put at least one up for the 2 riders killed there. I feel in addition to memorializing them it might bring about some form of enlightenment to the drivers along that stretch. I can provide the paint...

There used to be a Ghost Bike on KVR. I don't know when it was removed.

I'd give the bike path along the 15 a try. From pomerado, make a right onto scripps poway pkwy and then make a left onto the pathway, follow the road, get onto srcripps ranch blvd, it'll turn into carrol canyon, make a right onto black mountain rd, the road will then lead you to kearny villard. They are completely different. I don't like the debris on pomerado, but like the fact that there isn't that much lights or crossing traffic, while the othe route does.

Or even better you can access that bike path earlier by simply heading west towards the 15 from poway rd. I'd say if this is convenient, is the best option.

Give these a look as well, I use my bicycle as my daily commuter and found these maps to be heaven sent.

Thanks everybody. I think skipping Pomerado and taking the Mercy Canyon bike path to Carroll Canyon and KVR would be best. I'm still not hyped on riding KVR in the dark.

Same here, but being vigilant and not trying to run a TT is the best best.

I just rode to work Wednesday, I was on KVR right around 0630 and it's getting where the sun was starting to come up...won't be long until we're riding in the day again.
Chris

BTW- KVR bike lane still SUCKS!

Seems to me the southbound is worse than the northbound in this regard.

The southbound exchange with the 163 is really badly designed. The northbound route doesn't have as bad a problem.

I agree, but both need attention.
