Friday the 13th.....GMR, 40 miles with about 5,000 ft of climbing. Ran into Ron (pinoybentrider) who did a few miles with me on his folder bike. Climbing GMR on fixies, folders, recumbents? The guy is plum LOCO!
...I was really missing the trail today!

Bwahahaha!
Saturday ride....Solo 7.9 miles. Legs were stiff, breeze was blowin' hard and my legs hurt!
..Found out later when I got home that I had a slow leak in the rear tire. Maybe that had something to do with the pain? Whine over!
Saw Condorita fly by then LewisAClark. CR was too fast for the lens and LAC came out blurry as he flew by in the opposite direction at about 30 mph!

101 miles on what was supposed to be my usual 80. Got to the 62 mile mark where I have lunch. Go to change lenses as the sun came out only to learn that I did not put them back in the seat bag after I was rummaging for a tool to adjust my handle bar
. Turned out to be a 19 mile total backtrack for those damn things
. On the plus side it put me ahead of my arch rival the Beanz
... well for a day anyway
.
By the way, what in hell was with all the gnats flying around on the northern SART? I could hear them bouncing off my helmet like rain drops. I think I inhaled a couple of the little buggers while I was at it.
By the way 2. Beanz needs to add a 4 to the front of his mileage for the day. Don't want anyone getting the idea that the Beanz is a softy, especially the day after he did 5,000 feet of climbing!!!
I don't think I have even done that with my car. The only reason to climb is to get to the next flat section
. Way to go Beanz. You'll be ready to beat the Bear in no time.

Sorry to hear about the wheel CR, but glad to hear you're taking care of the kid!

I must finish riding before you're even down there or something Beanz because I hardly ever see you. I haven't been down there in awhile so I was looking yesterday. Needed a day on the TT bike anyway so figure why the heck not. Those gnats were flipping annoying though.

Yeah the gnats were bad! Today (Sunday not as much but the breeze was blowin' a little harder.I thought I may have seen you the other day on Arrow near Vineyard (Wednesday maybe?). Not sure if it was you, but it sure looked like you. Was about 2:45, on my way to work.
We do start late compared to ou guys. We start about 9:45-10:00 at the firetraining center next to the stadium. Then we head inland to Weir or Gypsum, then back to the coast. I've seen you fly by once or twice near Lincoln but don't realize it's you till you've zipped by.

Sunday the 15th....42 miles with Gina on the trail. Very breezy today. Ran across ROn (pinoybentrider) and EricAnderson in a line with a 3rd bent. Had my camera in a plastic baggy and didn't have time to get a shot of the bent-line. Would have been a good shot. But I did manage to get a shot of the River Velo Boyz at Edna Park (Ron's group/club/friends?
). A fly by TerBennett and a short chat with KevinJ who hadn't been out there in a while. Nice ride but pretty breeeeeezy!
Bunch-O-Tough Looking Muchachos! The original plan was to get a shot of them by the American flag up on th pole. I guess they look much taller in person cause the pic shows they aint nowhere near as tall as the pole! But they still look tough!

Gina making today's ride look easy, riding me to the ground.

Poor Charlie needs a bath. Looks more like a "Carlos" in this picture!

Beanz, it would have been worth a turnaround towards Edna's, but we are on a mission today especially Eric Anderson who was doing a double metric. We surely missed the photo ops, but you took the better posers.

You likely did see me Wednesday. I was coming home from work. I would have been wearing my PBK kit...black/white/maroon. I might ride into work and home this coming Wednesday. It'll be my last ride day of the week before I attend the FISTapalooza clinic on the other side of the San Gabriels Saturday and Sunday. One of those things that you don't want to engage the pervert brain with a name like that. I hear there are elite level triathletes and such that usually are in attendance so I look forward to becoming a sponge with all the info they have to share. Oh yeah, and hurt after the Palomar style length and elevation ride on one of the days. Ugh! I've become a spoiled TTer/duathlete.

Saturday March 21.........Couple of guys invited me on a ride up GMR. Robcircus and AndyFlo (not sure of handle, lurking mostly). A friend named Terry, way too fast for me! Rode the first 8 with Herb then we split at the fork. I tried encouraging him up GRR but Herb was having none of it after the Solvang Century last weekend. I know the feeling but thanks for the company.
The guys were gone so I continued up the remainder of the climb to the saddle. I actually felt much better this week when at the top of the climb. I think it had to do with a good breakfast and the spaghetti last night sure was good!
I sat at the saddle for about 5 minutes, downed a CLifBar, a little posing then took off. I thought maybe the guys would catch up depending n how long they had been at the village before my 12:00 arrival at the saddle. Did see a couple of the RiverVelo Boyz up there. Jose and not sure of the other guy's name. It was a little cool and foggy but sunshine near the saddle.
We started at Encanto Park so turned out 55 miles wiht maybe 5500 ft.

Herb's happier miles of the climb

Sunshine at the saddle

MY 98 CAAD3 BeanzMobile..Rode to make sure it still works.

Sunday the 29th....40 miles on the trail. Gina ws not a happy camper today. S'posed to be an ez ride after yesterday's mtns. Turned out to be pretty breezy and she didn't smile much!
...Did meet a couple on a tandem, told them of the forum and promised to post their pic. Had prolbems gettin online so it took a while but here they are! Also finally met Evil Euro. I had seen him before and said hi but I thought it was one of my long time friends, man they look alike. He's not a paparazi(sp?) type so I only had permission to post leg shots of him and his friend. Ran into Julie at the coast, in a hurry so she split quickly.
BTW EVILEURO, the dude riding with us is not part of our regular group of riding partners. He'smore like the Dennis the Menace fo the trail. He does some scary stuf like shouting at riders, scaring people and some not so safe riding. He just happened to see us leaving the coast and turned around to ride back with us. Gina says he may have scared your friend with a shout. He's just 'one of those guys'!
Plus a bad tire for flats on my part. Had a slow leak so patched the front before the ride. Then something poked ahoile into my tire, fixed it on the trail. About a mile later, ran thru a bunch of glass some dope planted on the underpass, another flat. Oh well, part of cycling!
Richard and Gale (hope I spelled it correctly)

Gina and her "I'm not happy in the wind after a day in the mtns" look.

Me and Gina, boy I need a haircut

Julie in action

Evil Euro and friend unwilling to become celebrities!

I rode up to the 91 crossing at the far end of Yorba Regional Park, then turned into the wind. Decided I really didn't want to fight the wind all the way to the beach despite the fact that it meant a tailwind on the return. So back to Rampart I went, then went over to the farmers' market in Garden Grove, where I found some fresh boysenberries.

Saturday 4/4...Alone on GMR. Nice ride, maybe 2 crotchrockets on the way up. Maybe 6 on the way down. Ran into Whitedcarbondude. He was heading up while I headed down. I tried to get a pic but the dude just climbs too dern fast for the camera!
...Felt good today but the 700X25 Armadillos is a tank of a tire! NO flats though. Good training tire then back 2 a liter tire for the Bear.
WhiteCdude is in thar somewhere, nice roadshot though.

Found this tire standing in the corner,on it's own, so I used it!

Yup, I didn't know for sure if it was Tinker but figured from the hairdo!

I'm adding all the GMR pics so that my buddy BRIAN has fewer reasons to drag himself on up there!

Hello hizzoner
Who don't you know up there? I remember when I was riding with you, you were shaking hands, slapping backs, kissing babies and posing for shots. I gonna start calling you the mayor of gmr.
Looks like you had a good time. I'll have to join you again soon. Nice photos as usual.
