Sunday April 5........51 miles on SART. S'posed to be an ez flat ride the day after a GMR ride, no dice! Pretty breezy and really tough on the way out to Imperial. Pushing hard trying to hold 12, not ez!
Ran into Tammy and Alan on the trail. Some fun words at the coast then an unexpected visit. A guy walks up to me and says,"I recognize you from the internet". I'm not sure if I should smile or DUCK!
... It's ok, turns out to be BF'er COUCHPOTATO. I do need a pic but he refuses at first. Good thing I got the pic cause I think he and his wife will take the SART JOURNAL THREAD BEST LOOKING COUPLE AWARD this year. Nice looking pooch too! Purty doggie named Gizmo! Turn out to be a real nice couple as they hang with us for a bit to meet some of the gang. Alex rides up with his son Maverick but I forget a pic and they take off early so no ride pics, darn!
But we headed back with Alan and Tammy. Did a good pace, about 20-21 mph for most of the way back to the leaky faucet. Tammy is tough and strong, must be the bike!
They hang with us to the leaky then Gina and I throw in a few more miles for bikejournal sake. That's when all the behind the scenes stuff comes in. Gina asks why I was riding so hard on the way back, then says she felt like giving me a fat lip!
..... SO if anything happens to me, start the investigation with her!
Mr. and Mrs CouchPotato

And Poochie Gizmo

Heading back, when Gina could still crack a smile.

I rode SGRT, LART, and Shoreline today because I needed to visit the farmers' market at Alamitos Bay. Got to see Lucas for the first time in quite a while!! He caught up with me and we rode together, chatting, along the marina road from the farmers' market to River's End.

It was nice to meet the legendary Mr. Beanz, Gina and their entourage today. You guys are entertaining group and hope to run into you again soon. Let me know if you ever need a partner for a Sunday GMR ride!
By the way, thanks for the compliment on our picture.

Hey Alex, I didn't forget! I was wondering how long I'd have to wait to see it!
..Nice pic!
...I had a little talk with Maverick while you were chatting with the boys. I don't think it will be long before you are drafting him!

I just recently joined BF and I think I'm going to have to go hit the SART just so I can shout out to Beanz and join the club.
PS I used to ride the SART +- 20 yrs ago when I lived in NB and I cannot tell you how much I hate the West wind.

I need to ride GMR atleast one day. I wanted to ride it Friday but a threat of rain and no way do I like GMR rain rides!
So more than likely Saturday. I hate riding up on Sundays after a long ride on Saturday. I should be going up on Saturday Morn! About 8:30 at Encanto Park or at the base of GMR, don't matter to me.
Yup Rumpled, give a shout, join us, or take a pic. We are a friendly group!
.......We tend to talk and hang a little too long at the beachstop so if you ride by, we are usually there for a good while! Usuallly hit the coast about 12:30 after a good 35 miles. Leaves us a short 12 mile return to Orangewood near the stadium.

Friday the 10th...I guess the Lord of Rains didn't want me inthe mountains today!
...Wanted to do GMR but the forecast didn't look good. Sat around aaaaaaaaalll day (after some yardwork) for the rain. It didn't so I umped on the bike and headed up towards Mt Baldy Rd. At the top of Euclid, it was raining so I headed back home. The rain stopped about 3 blocks down so I did a U'ey at Foothill and headed back up hoping it had stopped. Nope, still raining up there so I rode to the top of Euclid a third time then headed home. Got myh 20 mile sin so I 'm happy
Didn't see any other riders out there so no pics. I know you're all broken hearted!
No GMR ride tomorrow. Don't want to take any chances of getting stuck in the rain on GMR. So I'll hit the trail with Gina !

Looks like we will be doing SART on the 18th. I don’t know how many of my friends will be coming down but if the weather holds I would like to bring at least 5. Not sure if I will bring the Masi or the Jamis but as time gets closer I will see. We are planning on taking the advice and parking off of Gypsum canyon road and heading down from there. Thanks for the info.

Saturday the 11th of April......51 miles on the trail. Lots of regulars, Pinoybentrider, leakyfountain Boy, Allan and Tammy, Nacy (don't think I didn't get a picture mister!) and maybe a few others. Very breezy and cool day but a good workout. Ran into Condorita at the Pond, some Farmer's market talk then she split after a brief rest. Prolene showed up at the coast with his new 'too rich for myh blodd but I wish' Cervelo!. Then headed back only to be run down from behind by Alex. Rode with him for a while then we peeled off at the leaky fountain. Nice day and nice ride!
Condorita

Prolene (background) and his Cervelo. Had a pic of Prolene but came out blurry so a background pic will have to do!

Gina and Alex catching from behind

Gina led for a minute or two but quickly lost it on the steep grade hehe!

Alex, the guy with the heart of an 18 yo kid!

Don't let the white hair fool ya, he's only 18
(just kidding Alex!)

I wanna know what the route was that you took on that little 71 mile escapade. That looks like a bit of fun and a nice way to incorporate some other routes into riding the SART.

I would admit it if it happened, but no one passed me at my return trip! Stirring things up, Mr. Beanz? That tailwind sure was nice on the return. Good seeing you and the others at the stop!
Alex: You look great! Me, being closer to 60yo than 50, I have many white hairs on my head... Ride on! Maybe next time I'll wait 'till the whole group ( Mr. B.) starts heading back.... ;-)

Easter Sunday the 12th of April......Wow, beautiful day and lots of riders out! Ran into quite a few forum members. Condorita, always with something to laugh about. Rodea while with Evil Euro and his friend, no pics people. Then ran into TerBennett and his family. Wow, what a wife, nice lady! Filled with compliments. Have her save a sister for me incase Gina ever dumps me!
..Then Haimtoeg at the coast with his hot bike. Tammy, Alan, Sarah and a few others. Alex and his son Maverick showed up so we talked for a while, then rode back most of the way together. Seemed everyone was out today. Had to head back for Easter at Gramma's house. Sorry had to leave so soon but wanted to get this up before we go!
Highlite of the day was when TerBennett's kid with the cheesy smile looked up at me and asked, "Are you Mr. Beeeeeeanz?". Felt like a celebrity, "Yeah kid, that's me!" Hehehe!
Condorita, Big headwind and still laughing

TerBennett and family. Love the MadDawg look on the lil kid in the arms and the big cheesy smile on the other lil kid, priceless!

HaimToeg, Mr. Photogenic. Had to get away from the eyes before he steals all the forum women!

Alan, just looking cool!

Father and son, Alex and Maverick

Alex and Maverick on our wheel. Doing 20-22 mph and young Maverick actually sprinted around us a few times leaving us behind!

I'll be riding the SART for the first time this Saturday. I plan to start between 8-8:30a at the beach, and then ride ALL of the SART (upper included). Any suggestions as to places to eat along the way, preferrably where I can safely park my bicycle? I won't have a lock with me.
