I saw you on the trail, Robert. Or at least your group. Said Hi the second time, near Rio Bravo? or wherever the trail turns into an awkward sidewalk (JEO Wier Canyon). I made my short goal of 104 miles. Wasn't bad overall, but the heat didn't help in Riverside County. If the insurance adjusters are able to look at my car this week, I'm tempted to try again at the whole trail, with the 120-130 mile round trip. It was a lot of fun. I may have to ride that trail more often.

If you're a fast climber, you can easily get in the 8 mile (shack) in 1.5 hours. Most riders stop there or just beyond as there is a large downhill after the shack area. Not really worth it to get another mile or two. The shack is sort of a landmark rest stop!

To the saddle is 2:05'ish and about an hour to get back. 3.5 roundtrip if you need to know time frame for the Cow Canyon Saddle (right before the village).

thanks for the reply mr beanz, i want to climb 2 or 3 days a week before work, and still have time to find a 24 hr fitness for a shower. i live in south fontana, and have to be at work in glendale at noon. so it should workout if traffic behaves.

4/25..........Another Friday crosstraining session!
..Did Mom and Dad's yards, front and back, choppped down a small tree then road GMR to the village and back 41 miles with 5k of climbing. Felt really good today. The more ya ride GMR, the better ya feel!
The plan was to ride thru, no stops but I saw a lil chiney wrench on the side of the road near a lil construction site. I stopped to pick it up so figured I'd get ina pic or two! I asked around but nobody claimed it whne I asked so now I have me a nice chiney new wrench!

Down from 248 pre Christmas to 231 this morning. Much better on the climbs!

You askin' what that means?
I make it up to the shack in one hour. Much faster on the way down. SO a faster rider will make it up to the shack and back down to the dirtlot easily within 1 and a half hours.
The 1 hour refers to my time to the shack.
1.5 refers to his time to the shack and back to the dirtlot (parking area).

I know what you mean, just teasing you. Having said that, you are not slow by any stretch. Your times are pretty respectable.
I saw you btw a week ago at GMR when was driving my car down downhill. By the time I recognized you from your pics and having to roll down my window to wave, pufff you were gone. Maybe one of these days around SART..

Well, not today for me. Too strong winds are forecast, I don't really want to take the chance of dealing with 30mph gusty headwinds for 30+ miles. I'll try again on a better weekend for the SART.

yup, 1 hour the the shack, then 20 back down. im glad i went early, there were a few groups of 2 or 3 going up or down, but as i was leaving the dirt lot a herd of about 150 to200 went by. i only got passed by 2 bikes going up, and no one on the trip back. that is a nice 1000 kcal burner avg hrt rt was 140 on the up trip.

Saturday April 25....43 miles with Gina on the trail. First we ran into Ralph and the Leaky Boyz at Rampart. Can't get by the fountain or gain access to the trail unless you know the secret handshake! Luckily GIna knew it!Lots of riders out today. A charity ride going on. We were heading to the coast when a rider shouted 'Beanz'. Thought about it for a second then headed back to get a name and a pic. Pulling a buggy and a lil boy on a cross type bike must have been haulin' cause it took me a while to catch them. I nearly ran down a pacleline of 4 men but couldn't catch the kid and buggy! Thank goodness they pulled over, I was getting tired! Turns out it was a friend of BF'er TerBennett. His name is Julius, not sure if he is signed on but he's seen the thread many times. Enough to know the Beaner! Hopefully he signs on! BTW, I should have gotten a pic of the kids in the buggy. Darn, can't 'member everything!
Then to the coast where we run into Prolene for a few good laughs, the guy is a jokester!
While at the rest stop a couple of young Kewl dudes ride up on their fixies. We're checking out the yellow fixie as it's set up with a taxi cab theme. Kewl! Prolly can't see it in the pic but it says on the chainstay "driver carries less then $20". Bwahahaha! It's Kewl! I ask if they view the forums. Nope but they will now. The taxi dude took down the name of this forum and I promised to post the pic of him, his brother and the bikes (I'll post it tin the fixie forum too just for fun!). I didn't get their names but who cares, they were Kewl Dudes!
Leaky Fountain Boyz

Julius and his son (and a lil girl peaking out from the buggy!
)

Julius Jr. pretty good with the camera at a young age!

PinoyBentRider (Ron) flies by while we chat

Kewl Fixie Dudes and their rides

Prolene sweet talkin' his baby for a few more fast miles!

Sunday 4/26....42 miles and OooWee what a breeezy ride. But fun. Had a nice tailwind back. Ran into MTBLurker at the start along with Mad_One who seemed to have crawled outta the woodwork. Haven't ridden with the guy in about 6 months but he's back! On the way to the coast we ran into a guy that I had seen on the trail a million times, and on Ride Around the Bear once. Gem is the name and cycling is his game! He hangs with the RiveVelo Boyz now and then but we won't hold that against him Hahaha! That's a joke, don't beat me up, there are too many of them to get them mad!
LewisAClark showed up at the coast, not happy at all with the wind. Didn't say a word for a few minutes, only a finger gesture to the wind gods. You can guess what finger he flipped! Then Alex showed up with his son Maverick. Figured we'd head off together but they started back about a minute before us. Gina is very slow when it comes to puttin' on the helmet Grrr! We were a little behind so I told Gina we would slow down a bit when we caught up. I look ahead and we're falling behind. So we pick up the pace with the tailwind holding 21 for a long period. 6 miles later and finally we catch Alex and his son. So I figure we'd slow down. Wrong ! Young Maverick jumped on his horse and picked up the pace. So we all end up working pretty good to the end of the ride. It was a good ride and a good pace back!
MTBLurker and Mad_One

Ride The Bear veteran "Gem" controlling the restroom at Edna Park. I used the restroom so he took away my lunch money!..The guy is mean and a bully! Another joke, so don't hurt me!

LewisAClark after the finger went down!

Mad_One and Gina. Still smiling before they realized we had to pick up the pace to catch Alejandro and his son!

Maverick taking the lead and I was soon at the end hanging on!

Hey, how did I fall so far behind, there they go!

Yeah, when was the last time you saw the Roving Photographer get some shots like this!

Gina says I should call myself the Rolling Photographer but Nah! Still just Mr. Beanz!

Maverick and his 18 y/o Dad Alejandro (lil inside joke with the name!Hehe!)

It was sooo cool to see you guys again. The icing on the cake was seeing LewisAClark too. It was good to finally meet Alex and his son. I've seen photos of Alex, many times on the forum. Thanks for the photos.
Wow, I was working hard at trying to keep up with you.

Hope to see you all again next weekend.
Oh ya, thanks for not dropping me

Hey Beanz, You're right I was flying. Just making sure I'll have something to eat when I get back to YL park where the charity ride had lunch for us. We had a good time and of course well organized and good food.
Beanz, I have not been to Mt. Baldy village for sometime. I think you're ready for the Bear ride after you did your parents yardwork and gone to the village with little sleep last friday. My hats off to you!

Hey Mr. Beanz. It's me Julius. Thanks for posting our picture. We all look great. The only thing we forgot
to do is to take pictures of the two little girls in the buggy. Maybe next time. I will see you more at the river. My son's name is Joshua, his first 44 miles ride. That's awesome and he is only 10yrs old...
Just to let you know I'm a member of adobovelo club in Cerritos. Some guys in my club see you a big
GMR. I told them that you are well known here in Santa Ana river. I might see you there also they are
inviting me to start climbing, which is also my goal. So, Ill see you around...
