ToC Stage 8: Some pics from Palomar
Great day on Palomar. Big crowds, balmy weather and plenty of riding. Figured out what to do with all my time once I got there early - keep riding. It was nippy on the summit so we just hammered the climb 2x - both South and East Grades. Got in 7000' of climbing today....the crowds get you so pumped it's a lot of fun to just hammer with the loads of roadies all over Palomar today. Great job San Diego - the riding all over the mountain was insane today.
Hooked up with Jose and Millie from Mexico for the early climb up South Grade. Good, strong climbers and a lot of fun to ride with.
Old man on mountain decides it's a bit cold on summit to just hang around for three hours. We head down East Grade - and get some cold blasts of air on the way.
Little 'Lance' the Sheltie...cool charmer on the summit.
The FRS guy- parked next to him for the freebies. Love that stuff.
Jens & Levi come flying over the KOM.
Peloton whizz by so fast I can't get any pictures. These guys are amazing the way they can climb.
Looking south starting down the East Grade.
Where the Palomar climb starts: the Taco shop

Beanz, that scene took about 3-4 seconds to fly by. I'm hearing the big cheers coming and just as I look Lance goes screaming by. No pic! I was sure I had it set up for an LA pic and it just failed. Argh.
Wheels? I can't even make out who the riders are in these pics. Smoking the ride, pro style. Geez, I'm humbled. Great riding.

^^^To get a pic of Lance, you have to have a press pass all others fail it seems! I failed a few years back at the Tour of Hope, my buddy failed yesterday at the starting line and I see no other examples of the Lance by amateur fotogs! lol

Another shot of Lance on Hwy 76 at the base of South Grade Rd. They were going ridiculously fast.
