MTB riding on the Santa Rosa Plateau

I apologize if this has been posted before - I didn't pay attention. Saturday went for a hike around the Santa Rosa Plateau and feel in love with the area. We were on the "hiker's only" side but notice staging for mountain biking. Has anyone ridden the area and if so, could you tell me about it? Don't mind climbs but not looking for hairy technical.

PS - if you have not been there - this is a magical place. We did a great hike (about 8 miles). The Vernal Pools were full and wildflowers were popping out although it's probably alittle early. The chocolate lilies were in bloom. If I get a chance tonight. I'll post pics.

The hiking area is much bigger that the area you can mountain bike on. You also have to share the area with horses. I would say there is no real climbing you have to worry about. Nothing really tech unless you go looking for it. You can probably get a good hour riding on it. This area is probably a good place to ride a cross bike. If you live close by it is worth it if not I would look elsewhere.

Thank you - might take the cross bikes out then and do the ride. My partner hasn't seen the vernal pools so we can after hike out to them and hopefully not be to tired. Don't mind the drive. The area right now is beautiful. Love all the poppies blooming along the 15...

Anyone else have any good areas for MTB rides in the Temecula/Murrieta area? I too have gone to Santa Rosa for both hikes and MTB rides, very nice. But also looking for trails closer to me...

The best place to ride in the temec/murrieta area is vail lake for sure. But it is going to cost you 5 bucks but almost worth it for the way they maintain the trails.
