Cycling Apparel - Where does everyone get theirs?
Where does everyone get their Cycling Apparel? I'm new to riding and didn't realize how expensive the apparel is. Where does everyone get their gear from whether online or stores?

Canari Warehouse Sale (2471 Coral Street Vista, CA) or Zoot Sports Warehouse Sale (1880 Scott St Suite 101 Vista, CA 92081)...usually in Nov or Dec
If you happen to be in Boulder, Colorado in April, Pearl Izumi annual warehouse sale is held then. Mostly extras, production mistakes, samples, etc. but many 'can't pass up' deals can be found. Can read one person's experience there:

REI or Sierratradingpost.com. If I see a good deal on something I jump on it. I never pay full price for cycling, swimming or running apparel. It is expensive and never worth it to me. Then again, I take good care of my stuff so I don't need to buy it often.

local Target.......
I don't like the prices of cycling gear so I just wear C9 by Champion since I have a saddle that is larger than the racing inspired seats.....

I prefer to try on cycling gear before I buy. (at least the first time I buy.)
Tell us where in Southern California you live, and I may have some suggestions for you.

Being new to the sport, you may want to get yours at an LBS (local bike shop). I know it'll be more expensive, but you need to see how it fits you--every manufacturer is different in sizing! After being around for awhile (year or two?) you'll know what you're looking for if you order online.
Ordering online can be a dice shoot, even for experienced cyclists. You have to try one brand name at the local shop, see how it fits, then get that online.

eBay or the VeloWear outlet in Grover Beach
I usually find cycling clothing on eBay.
When I'm paying $10 or $15, I can afford to take a chance that it won't fit, but I've had fairly good results; the better sellers include measurements.
I'd shop locally, but in addition to being much more expensive, it's difficult to find my size. I wear a men's XS, which most bike shops and REI don't stock at all—only a few of the labels even produce anything that size that isn't obviously for women.
I've also bought from the Voler (VeloWear.com) factory outlet store (open weekdays) in Grover Beach. They have a fairly good selection, including some sizing samples (with a generic Voler logo) and solid colors; I'd rather not wear a jersey from a team or group with which I have no connection.

I mountain bike so I just wear my regular cargo shorts and all my drifit shirts comes from Target, Marshalls and Ross dress for less. I can't remember the last time I paid more then $9.99 for any of my biking gear.

It's hard to beat the advise above, however if you want to look good and are willing to pay the price, this is my reco:

It varies for me. Agreed that with shorts, you really have to try stuff on. I was about to buy some bibs one day online and instead went to buy them at the LBS since the price was similiar. Hated the fit....whew..
Performance has good deals. I have a store close enough to get to but will also buy online from them since I know my sizing now.
However on the plus size, once you get everything you need, you can go a while without spending more money. I've got multiple pairs of shorts/bibs and jerseys and will be fine for many months that way.

Riding like its 1990
+1 = dri fit t-shirts for casual rides
PBK had some good prices on shorts and bibs so I got some there, no tax, no shipping for $20 bibs was nice.
I really like riding in actual jerseys though because of pockets and they are cut so right. I only had a long sleeve i was given once and its lasted forever so mow the weather is hotter I sprung for a few short sleeves. I know they'll last long and I take care of my stuff so no worries.
I've been focusing my search on various "Ireland" jersey designs, its the only "team" l can sponsor without feeling like a poser.

About sizing, yes, these darn jerseys/shorts are sometimes hard to size. I have a couple size L and one fits comfy, one fits skin tight, one was "no circulation" tight and I have a M that fits like the skin tight L.
For euro sized shorts I got a 6 that fit loose, a 6 that fit right, and a 5 that fit right.
Just gotta work out the details...

Thanks for the responses everyone! I took snowman40's advice for the Champion shirts for short local rides and I've found great things at Performance. They had a lot of things on sale recently so I saved a ton.

I get my clothing from two places. I wear Canari jerseys which I buy at the Canari clothing sale which takes place twice a year. A typical jersey will be about $10.00.
I buy these shorts from a place that makes them in Los Angeles. They are the best shorts I have ever owned and I have three pairs of $100 + Pearl Izumi shorts.

I emailed them and it is, indeed, July 17-18th. For you peeps who've been there, is there any point in even trying to go on a Saturday? Or is it just a wasteland of crap that's already been picked through and no one wanted? Dunno that I can get out of work to head there Friday.

Best Custom Cycling Apparel I have ever got!
This is not SPAM! Seriously. I am REAL person.
Check out Jakroo! I have never been more happy with any other cycling apparel. The quality is freakin' awesome and the customer service was great. I had my gear designed and to my door in less than a month!
