Visting Los Angeles in December, Looking for a few friends to ride with.
I am finally going home in December for a month. I picked up biking in Germany in order to stay in shape and found that i really enjoy it. None of my friends from home bike and I am not really trying to get them to start either since i will only be there for a month. I was wondering if anyone would be kind of enough to go biking with me or show me a few routes that are fun to do alone. I will have that whole month to do whatever so I will be riding a lot minues new years week because I will be in Vegas. I will be staying in the San Fernanado Valley and I own a Trek 4300 Disc. Hybrid. thanks.

Hi there. I'm a teacher and my husband also works at the same school which means we're off for 3 weeks in winter. No guarantees but definitely email me closer to that time. We live in Hollywood but have a bike rack for the car and there are some rides in the valley I want to do. Some are far into the West valley which is too hot to do in the summer. There's also the Sepulveda Dam area wchih has a route. So, email me closer to that time through here

The San Fernando Bike Club has several rides at various abilities every Mon., Wed., Sat. & Sun. with good participation that meet at CSUN, Calabasas, Northridge locations. Check out their ride calendar.

If you want a tour of the dirt roads in the Santa Monica Mountains (south of the Valley), let me know. There are many routes to get up there from the north: Canoga Av, Reseda Bl, Topanga Canyon being some. At the top they link to Mulholland Highway, which is closed to cars, and then you can go into Topanga State Park (assuming it hasn't been closed by then). Lots of open space, quiet, and in December the weather will be very nice and the dust should be settled.

I would be delighted to get a tour. I am open to anything. I have a hybrid bike. I actually prefer trails or even singletrack. I am getting really excited about going home now.

There's a lovely singletrack trail in Topanga, called the Backbone Trail. It's a fairly stiff ride, depending on how much of it you do; it can be part of a very nice loop ride that requires about 2000 feet of climbing and somewhere between 20 and 30 miles.

NICE, I love this website. Backbone sounds nice. I am in decent shape because of being in the military and biking on my time off. I believe 20 to 30 miles is very doable depending on how much drinking my friends put me through. LOL. In any case, I am up for anything. Just want to make friends and enjoy some biking. Thank you Lord Chaos for you hospitality. I will definitely check up on this forum constantly. I will also try to ride with everyone that offers to show me around.
