All this talk of doing it
First time GMR to Baldy Village. Parked the car at Palms and away I went having no idea of what I was in for. Saw lots of friendlies coming down. As always I got started late so I always see people coming back from the direction I'm going. None the less it was a steady up and up. With only one stop sign. You guys and gals who ride this regular are plain old fashion hard asses. Kudos. Made the intersection in 1:48. Have no idea if that's a good ride or not. But, I felt good for making it. Tried to make it to the lifts but there was a crazy headwind that thwarted my effort and shut me down just past the road grit bin by the second bridge. Coming down that part I hit 48.5 mph. The sign told me to slow down. It was actually the ruts in the road that I was listening to.
Good ride.
Good ride.

My guess is that some of those wind gusts were 25+knots coming up out of the Village. The first 2 miles were a bit of effort to keep moving. It actually got better when you got to the switchbacks.
