lol you live in the IE, I think the only bikes your going to find out there are dirt bikes, maybe a few mountain bikes. In general I don't think "bro's" are really into a sport which doesn't require them to drive their enormous truck somewhere to do it.

sorry couldn't resist, I'm originally from orange county.

also you'll have much better luck in the regional forums; there is a section for southern California.

oh and if you like to climb glendora mountain road (GMR as many refer to it) is a must ride, and it's in glendora so you would get to drive your raised truck out there

1) we call them "fixies" and they are ridden by "hipsters"

2) I also race my road bike (or rather I go to crits and try not to be the one who causes a crash)

3) Even a bike with a ***** as a seatpost would still be less gay than wearing ed hardy/skin/famous stars and straps and driving a slightly smaller version of a monster truck.

check out the 'tude in this thread

i know the stereotype is easy to propagate, F4UX3 - but there ARE people that ride dirtbikes AND road bikes...me being one of them...and i'm a girl! i enjoy both - but i definitely ride my bike more than my dirtbike.

mxadam, have you checked to see if there are any bike clubs in your area? they probably know some good routes, etc...

good luck!

There are a few clubs in your area and there are plenty of rides near you. The Hemet Double Century comes right by your house in October. Palm Springs Century is February 13th so you still have time to sign up for that. Ride into Elsinore and out Rail Road Canyon and then up Goetz and back to 74 and you can have a very good loop to ride. Riverside is close and they have a rather big club ride there most weekends. You aren’t that far from the SART and a trip down to Huntington in the OC. Performance Bicycles has a shop 30 minutes from you and there are several bike shops in your area. And if you are into MTB there are lots of places for that as well.

Every Sunday at 8am there is a RBC ride that starts from the Riverside court house. a,b,and c group so you will find a place to fit in.

During daylight saving there is a group ride that leaves every Tuesday at 4:00pm from the Starbucks on Limonite and Hamner(Ralph's shopping center). This ride is a 50 mile loop.

Tuesday night training crit on the Ontario GP course.

Saturdays you can do the Canyon Velo Food Park ride that starts 12 miles down the 91 from you off Lincoln and the 55 freeway.

Saturdays 8am @ Chino Incycle is the COW ride.

None of these rides are 1-1.5 hours though(except tuesday training crit). In that time frame most cyclist are doing interval or hard threshold training which we like to do alone for the most part

If you like to ride 1-1/2 Hr. take temescal Canyon Rd. from horsetheif canyon to Corona to Ontario & 15 Fwy round trip is 20 miles & if you like to ride some more go an other 3 miles to lake st & back you should have about 26 miles. I ride that road couple times a week from Corona in summer time.

There are a bunch of rides out of UCRiverside of varying degrees of difficulty, especially: Tuesday nights are the FUCR (Fast UCR) and Thursday nights are the SUCR (Social UCR).

At worst, just hit the SART and hook up with a group there. You're pretty much guaranteed to find one.

Personally, I think the riding in the IE is much more fun than OC (likely to the second poster's dismay). I never have problems with lifted trucks --- even on the rare occasions that I see them. Seems to me that we see what we want more than what there is: like how I see a bunch of whining superficial cellularly distracted idiots in OC, more interested in trying to out-finance all the other utterly unskilled drivers with allegedly nicer and nicer cars, which they still can't seem to operate responsibly. But I digress
