there was nothing difficult about it meaning the weak riders didn't face any kind of selection. redlands was fast hard and everyone suffered. average 295 watts for redlands vs avg 215 for la circuit. thought he headwind was brutal and nobody wanted to pull out front so the 215 was slightly misleading.

LAX is a boring course in my opinion. I prefer Redlands were you are forced to make tactical moves every 30 seconds. The crowds and downtown venue add a nice race atmosphere as well.
My day @ Redlands...
Cat 3s: 25.5mph avg. Only 2 low speed crashes to avoid. My teammate and I misplayed the endgame and ended up around 20-30th.
35+: 28mph avg. Silky smooth and fast. I was hanging on for dear life. Didn't have much in me to help the team much but they managed to put a few in the top 10. I ended up 34th (better than I thought).

That's how I always feel when I manage to end up in races with my team's 1s and 2s... they all talk beforehand and discuss strategy and execute it well during the race. I just hang on and maybe if I am in the right spot I can do something if asked. But I never really feel like I was much help to them

The first 4 miles are false flat and uphill followed by a super quick descent and rollers. Stay hard on the gas until you crest the hill (there's a false summit followed by an actual summit) then recover on the descent and try to hold on until the finish.

Pretty much spot on. Don't go out too hard. Start in something like a 53x17. Start off standing but not quite sprinting for about 10 seconds and settle in. Stay in the big ring until the bump before the tunnel. I'd go small ring on the bump and stay in it until you crest the first hump of the saddle. Go full gas on the climb and recover on the descent. You should be going full gas again by the time you pass the Modjeska turn off and hold it until the finish.

Thanks for the tips guys. There are sports where you competitors won't help you... I'm glad to see this is not one of those sports.
I'm new... which Category should I enter? My 2010 race age is 49. Cat 4/5 or Masters 40+

Doesn't really matter if you're not looking to race the series, you're time is still going to be the same. If you're looking to be higher up in the results, I'd go 4/5's.

Is esammuli going to be there? I think he was pretty close last time.
If I can finish the bike and shave before midnight I'll be there.

Woke up not feeling fresh or fast. Got a pretty good warm-up and starting to feel a little better. Started off way too hard on the bike trail, kept seeing the power around 360 and trying to calm down, but it would work back up. Climbed Cook's pretty well and had a split time of 14:45 to the second hump on the saddle. This should have meant I was on track to a pretty good time, thought for sure I'd crack my goal of making into the 26's, all it meant was I'd gone too hard. I had a hard time keeping the power up after cresting the saddle and came up half a minute shy of my goal with a time of 27:31, for 3rd (which was far behind 1st and 2nd) in the 30+. Average power for the TT was 314w, which I'm pretty happy with, I was targeting 320w. Tied my personal best 20 minute power of 318w. All in all, pretty happy, considering I'm coming back from a broken collarbone and surgery a few weeks ago. Esammuli had another smoking time in the 25's.

I forgot to start my Garmin until 12 minutes in so I estimate my time in the high 28's or low 29's. Are the results posted online?
This was my first time so I now have a base time to approve upon. I need to do some formal training. So far I've been joining
fast group rides which must be helping.
Can't wait for the next one. Where is PIRU?

Hi,
Set a PR by a few SECONDS. Was shooting for 29:00 (fast for me) and hoped that I wouldn't be over 30:00. Ended up with a 29:39 which was good enough for 11th (out of 18) in the Masters 50+.

Hopefully, I will participate in the next one instead of being a spectator.
I think that I was able take photos of some BF members. The last photo may be Cleave!?

You got me in the 5th picture, I'm second in line with the tri-spoke front wheel.

Whats up with the crashes at 40+ at El Do? There has been crashes at the straightaway during the last sprint out this week and last week
