Los Angeles River Trail - open to Figueroa?

I saw on the LA Bike Coalition's web site that this year's LA River Ride would celebrate the completion of the Fletcher Drive to Figueroa portion of the Los Angeles River bike trail. Does anyone know if this portion of the trail has already been completed or if its on schedule to be finished by the time of the River Ride in June? I was on the bike trail this morning and went past the exit at Fletcher only to meet a Cement Truck coming the other direction up the trail. I bailed at one of the side streets that connect with Ripley St. then turned on to Newall St. before connecting with Riverside to continue my commute downtown. The road surface of the new section seems pretty good, but the trail is still missing railings, signage, and any other clues that it may be completed and open to the public.

Any regular LA River Bike Path riders have any updates?

(By the way, it was a great morning to ride - crisp, but not too cold with the sun coming up over the river. The bike commuters in Washington DC have my sympathy!!)

OK - I guess it wasn't just me. Maybe it will be completed by the River Ride, but that may be a stretch. We'll see...
