Cheap housing?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a student at UCLA and need to start looking for an apartment for next year (I live right next to campus at the moment and rent is ridiculously expensive). Are there any places you'd recommend I look for apartment listings or any areas in particular I should look in? (I've tried craigslist but they seem to only want people to move in ASAP). Ideally I'd like to find a place for under $700 and close enough to commute to campus by bike (and near the coast hopefully, as my rides usually tend to be up PCH). Thanks a lot!

For $700 its going to be with roommates near UCLA. If you want cheaper, it will be like the Palms area. That's like Sepulveda and Venice.

Cheap in LA? LMAO! What do you consider riding distance? Seriously, when I thought I was going to be staying in LA, my bike commute distance planning was 20 to 30 miles. Really opened up options. if you are looking at 5 miles, that is vastly different than 20 miles.

Compton is cheap. Pedal really fast!!!!

For $700, you really need to do roommates to do bikable distance to UCLA. Lots of undergrads do this.

for $700 you're going to be farther from the beach not closer.

The only other place that just might be kind of cheap is near UCLA. Its on the other side of Sunset Blvd (North) where Hilgard is at. The street is Beverly Glen. When you go deep into Beverly Glen, it becomes Los Angels County property jurisdiction and not a particular City. Its a narrow road and dicey for riding. But if you want cheap, there it is. You might be able to rent out a room with some kitchen privileges. You'll see a few signs by realtors, a lot by Sotheby's. This is where a homeowner who wants a Bel Air address but really ain't got the money, goes. You know, a wanna be.
