I finally did it!

So after months of riding as much as possible, and deciding it was finally time... I made it up GMR today!!! I took GMR to east fork back down 39 back home to San Dimas. Let me just attest to what many have said that it definitely is an amazing ride! I will definitely be back! No snow unfortunately, but I think I needed to keep going up GRR to see the white stuff. Thanks again for all the info, pics and vids that everyone has posted! I'm glad I went!

Gratulations! I used to ~love~ that route back in the 80's when I was a teenager riding it.
I'm finally getting up there this Saturday and I'm pretty excited about it.

Congratulations! When you are ready for it, make sure to throw in GRR as well - some of the best scenery around is along that ridge.

I totally agree with rallison, i.e. take Glendora Ridge Road all the way to Mt. Baldy Village. You can do it, it's really not that difficult.

Here is the profile from GMR / GRR. After you click the link go to settings and click on display elevation.

How about this? The village is at 4500 ft. The top is to the ski lifts.

You'll love it when you make it back out. And the run to the lifts are 4 miles of excellent pain. Here is my ride report from last year for the GMR->GRR->Lifts ride. It really is an incredible ride.

Nice picture. Maybe 1/3 of a mile below Newman's Point?

Congratulations Cache ! I was also a first timer today, did gmr to grr to cowsaddle & back down. It was very cold & drizzly once up into the clouds...fair bits of snow still on the side of the road...despite full arm & leg warmers ,winter gloves ,my fingers & toes were numb from the cold. A day well spent
Many thanks to all who post up info on this great route.

Thanks! And congrats to you as well! How far up is cow saddle from the GMR GRR split? I was on a tight time frame when I went up but I'd like to continue up GRR the next time

Congrats on the ride. The saddle is near Baldy Village and that is about 12 miles from the GMR/GRR intersection. I think the return on GRR is my favorite downhill so you have a treat to look forward to.

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel! My maiden voyage to GMR/GRR happened about five weeks ago and it was such a majestic experience. I sure hope that I will be able to go back there soon!
