Grade on The Wall on Live Oak Canyon Near Cook's Corner?

Does anybody know the max grade on The Wall on Live Oak Canyon after passing O'Neill Park and right before it drops you down to Cook's Corner?

steepest part of live oak to the top is 10%-11%

See mile 22 in this profile

Many thanks Aerodee. I can't seem to find the grade on your link, however. I, too, have a Garmin (705), but can't seem to get the grade function operating.

BTW, you guys were really moving on The Wall (and through O'Neill Park). Pretty much squashed my plans of doing Como Street (long route) again any time soon.

Grade will show if you import your data to Garmin training center. Garmin connect online doesnt show this.

which one are you? I was there yesterday. (im on sho air kit, white helmet and Tarmac Sl3)

I suggest doing the shorter route for now then as you get stronger and consistent...then try the longer one.

Dont worry your not alone. I still get dropped and yesterday was just filled with strong guys.

It actually pitches up to 14% at one point.

Como (long route) is where it's at. I used to get dropped on the Wall all the time, but I kept doing it every weekend. Now I'm usually the first one over the top.

Good work there, I actually make it up to the top recently w/o bombing out but lacking gas for Cooks and rest so I drop out of the pack. Eventually I'll catch up so I can do the sprints at the end which I like to the most.

I didn't do the ride yesterday, but I did the long route as part of a 70 mile ride that included Newport Coast and Jamboree hills. Took everything I had to turn over my 39/25 gear over The Wall.

I used to do Como Street (long route) back in the mid to late 1980's, but have not raced in over 22 years, or so. Thought about doing it again just for fun, but think I'll start on the short route before trying the long route at a race pace.

Thanks for the tip about the training center. I have the software on the computer, but have only been using garminconnect.

does the main field still regroup at the top of the canyon for both the long and short route? or are you pretty much left to find whatever stragglers are remaining if you get dropped?

Aerodee80 04-19-10 09:28 PM

Main group doesnt regroup for either routes. I only notice buddies/team mates would wait certain spots.
