looking for personl injury / bicycle accident lawyer

i'll spare the details but i was right hooked yesterday and am looking for some lawyers on recommendations, at least for consultations.

i spoke to one lawyer a few minutes ago and they were attempting to send someone over to my house so i could sign some papers immediately before i even had a real consultation. seemed very money hungry without very much care for what had happened to me. i'm not looking for that kind of person.

if anyone knows of one or have one they've used before and would recommend i'd really appreciate it. this is all very new to me and frankly kind of scary.

i'm in the SFV (LA county) if that helps at all.

If you're not seriously injured, no decent attorney that does personal injury will waste their time or yours. If your bike was damaged, it's strictly a property damage claim; go to small claims court. Don't discuss the details on this, or any other forum.

For additional information, the Nolo books & website are a reputable source of information.

I second the comment to refrain from publicly discussing the case.

That depends on the case; a lot of new lawyers might be interested if they see it as an easy win, and some who are past the point of keeping score might be interested if they're cyclists themselves or have family members who are and see it as a chance to "send a message."

There is a saying in the legal profession; "May you have a case you cannot loose." New lawyers typically don't understand the wisdom of that saying. Experienced lawyers know the economics of a lawsuit. Believe me, if you're not seriously injured, an experienced professional won't waste their time, or yours, it costs more than it's worth.
