Moving to South California (local rides/Forums)

Hey,

I'll be moving to south California soon. Near Santa Clarita/Valencia.

I live in Miami now so I ride a Fixed since it's ALL flat, but I'll be buying my geared bike soon.

I'm use to doing hammer rides(80Miles/25AVG), Recovery rides(40Miles/21AVG), and even centuries.

I was looking for a local forum or a listing of popular rides. Are most rides closer to LA? further north? I honestly don't know squat about the area. I just want to find a group of people that wreck hard! Because I'll be racing in Crits!!

Thanks for your help in advance!! Hope to ride with you guys soon.

Mentioning the local forum on this forum is apparently against the rules and worthy of banishment, so I'll send you a PM.

You could ride with a local club. San Fernando Valley Bicycle club or Santa Clarita Velo are good choices.

Santa Clarita Velo club rides are good if you want to get in some climbing. They have a 5-ish mile rollout at easy pace, then attack once they get to some hills.

Other local hammerfest rides that are within driving distance of Santa Clarita:

Simi Ride (San Fernando & Simi Valleys -- 35 mins from SC)
Montrose Ride (Pasadena area--40-mins from SC)
