So i used and ancient shimano crankset, but i'm only using the inner chainring, also an old shimano tourney derailleur as a chain tensioner,by setting the limit screw the keep it under the SS freewheel($9) and the bars were old road bars i cut and made the bull horns, and used some old brake levers, bought bar tape ($9) so it cost me $18 to make my cruiser.
It rides nice,38/16 gearing is easy enough, and it was fun to make.

Naah--too clean to be a rain bike. Good work!
Only married guys need to rationalize projects like this. The real reason we do it is it's fun to create!

Your right,my wife is pretty easy going with my creatives, since she knew i was and artist/art school drop out/musician before hand, but yeah i love to build things that are useful. Thanks guys,i figured I'd get slammed on the ugly tourney tensioner(side note on that is, i actually mounted it on the inside of the hanger to get it closer the the freewheel, forgot to mention that) Anyway it's alot of fun to ride.
