Who did the rain dance? Ugly skies all week so I've been waiting and waiting. Everyday looks ugly so I figure the next will be better. Weather dude says it was to be nice today but it wasn't. Uglier than yesterday and seems to be raining nonstop here!
I've been fooled into thinking I was going out today. Which leads me to believe one of yous did the rain dance!

Just built an installed the new wheel on the Beans Mobile and I want to ride it! But I don't want to get it wet! Or get any of the other bikes dirty!

Who else is getting fever?

My Mr. Beans Mobile...and I'm dying to ride it with the new wheel, darn rain!

I bought some telescope parts, so it's my fault. This is a well known curse among telescope guys, sorry about that.

It was dry-ish in my neck of the woods (Chino), so I decided to ride. Got north of the 10 freeway and discovered the joys of riding in the rain.

Man, there is just NOTHING like pools of water in your shoes!!

rode last night, just a little drizzle, not really a big deal.. The roads were completely empty, other than the humidity it was a good ride..

*waits for someone to tell Beanz to HTFU*

I'll take the rain over the usual Santa Ana fire season any day.

I cannot tell a lie. It followed me south from the NorthWet.

It found me in Redding in June, trying to ride the Sacramento River Trail and came north with me. Lake Shasta was filled to the trees and the rivers northward were out of their banks. Got a day of sunshine on the Banks Vernonia Trail, but the next day was Deluge.

I fled behind the Cascades. It followed, then grew bored and summer was not bad - 30 days of sun in July.

I was on a trail survey tour from Tri Cities to the Palouse when it found me on the Latah Trail, followed me up to the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, rained me off that, showered at me across the Channeled Scablands and pounced as I crossed the pass, but I beat it to the boat and unloaded before it arrived.

I headed south and it found me again in Redding - but not before I did those two trails. I don't know how it found me down here, in what should be Fire Season, but it did.

Thought i might get some miles in today, but no luck. Drizzle, drops, drizzle, wind, just enough for a no go. Almost forgot what i feels like to ride. Saturday may be the day.

Truth

Also, the herd has been thinned on the Parkway, with only a smattering of the regular commuters out there for a nice change. My inclement weather bike has been getting some decent mileage this past week.

To answer Beanz's question, I did a rain dance last week.

I installed my crud road fenders last weekend so I had no excuse this week. I rode to work on Wednesday and today. On Wednesday, it rained for about 1/2 of my 17 mile morning commute and no rain on my coming home. Today, it sprinkled and drizzled for the first half of my route. Once I was on the SART I was dry.

I bought a used trainer on Tuesday (from Craigslist) for my wife. She's been staying dry all week long.

I've been riding the mornings here at 7am - 9am, 60 degrees is the worst it's got - sometimes it starts to rain but it's not bad, I bring a light-foldable rain jacket (still haven't had to use it). There's nothing like climbing in the fog, it really brings on a different aura when riding. Get out in the rain while it's here ! It's even better than the heat, recovery is almost instantaneous. Yes the bike looks like do-do brains at the end of a ride but it's nothing a light spray of water can't take care of.

I rode my usual Santiago Canyon ride yesterday and it started to rain right when I started (it apparently had been raining in Irvine/Lake Forest for a while, as the roads were very wet). I started to turn around, not wanting to get my nicest bike all dirty, then told myself "it's just a bike, man, just clean it up after the ride." And so I did the whole ride and knocked off 7 minutes from my best time.

I have to say, though, I've been rained on more in October than I have all year.

Yaaa, what he said. Just looked out the window 20 minutes ago and saw sun. Looked out the back way and could see mountains for the first time in a week. Got to give GMR a try. Later.

Yep, that's true. It'll be fair in L.A. and by the time we got up to Mt. Pinos, no more clear skies. But at least I used to also take my mountain bike up there with me so I can at least have some fun.
