Suggestions?
Ok I've been riding for a few weeks now and i just have a set of "Flat" pedals on my bike and want some clip in style ones so can any of you guys/gals suggest a decent pedal and shoe that doesnt break the bank?

What is your riding style?
Do you want a shoe with a recessed cleat that you can walk around in easily, or do you want a road-specific shoe that has a stiff sole and is great on the bike but not easy to walk in? Do you want pedals that are only for cleated shoes or do you want pedals you can use with or without bike shoes? |
If your going with mountain bike pedals , crank brothers egg beaters are the hot ticket, http://www.performancebike.com/bikes...551_1089836_-1___ You can pick up shoes onlline or at any bike shop.

I was at Performance yesterday looking at new MTB shoes and pedals yesterday.
You can get MTB shoes and pedals right now for about $70 total for the cheapest there. I prefer MTB SPD myself for the ability to walk in my shoes. |
sorry it took me so long to reply but im just a casual rider right now and would prefer somthing i can walk around in a little
Thanks for the Info Rumpled ill check it out |
If you want to be able to walk around, go with mountain bike shoes. One word of caution is to not cheap out on shoes. Get whatever fits PERFECTLY, whether it is the $40 pair or the $150 pair.

alright cool thanks!

If you are riding an MTB I recommend old school rat trap style pedals with Power Grips. You can use any shoe, although MTB specific shoes will have stiff soles for better power transfer. Watch eBay for used Shimano XT or DX pedals.
