Today on GMR

What a nice day we had on GMR. It was great to see people I hadn't seen in quite a while. It seemed obvious by the turnout that those that came had missed the group rides we used to do often. Please post some pic of today but also , please don't let personalitys get in the way of what this forum does very well. Get people together so we can share our love of cycling.

Hey Bob, It was nice meeting you. What a nice turn out and a nice day to boot. I hope we can do this again soon.

Hope everyone made it home safely. I had a great time meeting everyone and riding to the Village. Thanks to MrBeanz and Gina for the refreshments. The weather was perfect in the AM, then windy on the way back. No rain makes for a wonderful day. Hope to do this again in the future.

It was a great time. There were groups from our club, (SFVBC), and Adobo Velo, too. Beanz and Gina had a ton of food and drinks and everyone seemed to enjoy the day.

Oh, Bob's new bike is sure purty.

I had a great time, first time to Baldy (I've been partway up GMR before). Ben and I weren't with the group much but we crossed paths with some at times. We went to the lifts, then descended Baldy Rd. to the bottom, climbed back up to the village and returned to Glendora on GRR and GMR joined by KiddSisko. At the cars, KiddSisko jumped abec's car (was that the right user name?). Pictures to follow.

Same back at ya. I skipped most of the climb to the lifts, only went to the Ice House turn cause it just looked too dark and I didn't want to get caught in rain on a brand new bike. I made up for it though, climbed back up GMR from the starting point to finish with 8500 ft in 65 miles. A good day.

Damn Vance your stache is far superior to mine. I'm also doing Movember but it may take the whole month to have anything worth bragging about.

You should check out Movember. Grow a stache to raise awareness for prostate cancer.

Ha, I usually go full in December or January... but given the creepy Burt Reynolds vibe, I will probably start next week!

I guarantee you that there is nothing superior about this stache! People at work, almost without exception, spontaneously burst out in laughter upon seeing it.

Vance, I'd rock that stache if I could, damn Indian genes! Looking good by the way, sad I missed today's ride but I'd be stranded on the mountain somewhere. I broke a spoke that made my bike un-ridable down in San Clemente. I bought a used rear wheel from the local bike shop and still had a good day.

Arrived late for the start, but caught up when I passed the regroup/rest. Joined a fast moving train 5 miles from the village. Ouch. Talked with Herb and a father daughter tandem team on the way up. Met up with Big John, kuf (umd's wife), Vertical Bob and AJ (right?) at the trout pond, then tried to hit the ski lifts, but we thought better of ourselves and turned around at the 5K point.

I took this pic of Mt Baldy shortly before I joined the pain train.

I did get this awesome pic celebrating my accomplishment. Photo by Big John.

The weather on the return was unique. Here's kuf taking pics of us while a storm brews up behind her.

Yep sounds like I missed a great day and a great ride. Unfortunately, weekend riding out there is not going to happen with my current work schedule. I get every other Thurs and Friday off and that's when I hit the mountains. I am glad you and the crew got out there and enjoyed one of my favorite climbs.

For a minute or two I thought I saw you today. 5 miles from the village along GRR I joined a fast train. The guy at the front trying to rip our legs off was wearing a black 508 jersey. From the rear (the only view I had of him), he reminded me of you.

What he means is I did a bunny hop over a car while riding. Honestly.

That would be Joanna with a soft J which sounds like a Y. She's new to BF, mostly as a lurker, but is contemplating signing on as a member.

Hi,

This is depressing me because I couldn't be there.

However, I'm glad to see that a SoCal BF ride occurred again. Looks like it was a great time.
