What rates listing and what doesn't?
Competitive only or fun rides, too? Fundraising rides?
I don't see the Tom's Farm time trials or Santiago TT?

I see no reason to exclude informal or non-sanctioned rides, as long as you don't expect me to list "Tuesday Night World's" 52 times. Do you have a website or information (specific time, date, conditions) for Tom's Farm TT or Santiago TT?

Fiesta Island TT must be a significant factor, otherwise why not just go to the Western States Ride Calendar site.

Now see, I've been in this forum for at least two years and that's the first time I've seen that calendar come up. Thanks, I'll cherry-pick the local events from it.

I don't know where the Tuesday Night World's are (why are they World's); which brings up a related point of do we have listings of regular training rides? Do we need some? I'm not much of a roadie, so I haven't hit any of those yet.

Both of the TT's I mentioned I've first seen on USA Cycling
Tom's Farm is listed here with some crit's
pacificsunsetvelo.com

Santiago TT is put on by Team Velosport. I don't see 2011 dates, but 2010 was 3/6 4/3 10/9 and 11/13
2010 flyer 2010 Flyer
Team Velosport aka Sho-Air
https://www.teamvelosport.com/

It would probably take a whole nother thread for Crit's. ElDo, Great Park and some others are weekly in the summer, plus GP's etc .....

Hmm... their sites don't really give specific information on the time & place. And they're technically private events, since membership is required. But I'll include the links you provided.

And the "Tuesday Night World's" is the slang term for almost every club's & team's informal weekly hammerfest. They jokingly call it the Tuesday Night World's Championship because members show up with the pretense of not caring about beating each other, but then somehow ride hard enough to vomit, suffer embolisms, and unfortunate crashes, etc. each Tuesday night.

Yeah, info isn't up for 2011 yet - but both those TT's are not private, they are USAC sanctioned and open to all under USAC rules. Tom's Farm even has a public division with no license, IIRC.

So all those TTs are open to non-USAC members?

Yeah, if you don't have USAC (or USCF as some still call it) just pay $10 for a one day license.
No different than Fiesta Island charging $5 less for SDBC members.
I wouldn't really call that private.

Just like my original post here - what kind of criteria for this list do you have in mind.

I've got no problem with calamarichris putting up a list of rides to do/desire to do. Knowing criteria would help in the effort.

What's a good ride for a rookie to participate in? The most I have ridden is the Tour de Foothills metric century.

Hey Fishy.
What is your goal? To finish a full-century?
Tour de Palm Springs is pretty flat. As long as the wind doesn't come up, you should have no problem finishing it.

I think this list is a great idea. Not sure what kind of rides you are looking for.

LA River Ride, don't see the 2011 date yet. Fairly flat century from LA to Long Beach and back.
https://la-bike.org/events/los_angeles_river_ride.html

Bike the Bay in San Diego, 25 mile ride including crossing the Coronado bridge.
https://www.bikethebay.net/

Bulldog Bike Race on Camp Pendleton, no membership required. They go by age not category. 26 mile road race.
https://www.camppendletonraces.com/bike.html

Local MTB Races
https://www.racersandchasers.com/

The best racing schedule I have found, maybe just a link to this. Includes races from various orgs.
https://www.socalcycling.com/Schedule...acesched05.asp

Training rides
https://www.socalcycling.com/Group%20...grouprides.htm

The only "official" info I could find on the Fiesta Island training rides
https://www.socalcycling.com/Group%20...sta_island.htm
Show up at 6PM during DST and be ready to hammer.

Bummer, I'm already registered for the Etape du California, which is the same day. Looks like May 7 will be a day of wholesale suffering.
Thanks for the heads-up!
