Performance Bike Comes To Long Beach

Would Jax be missed? I'm not sure.
|
I don't think so. Jax sells Trek and offers great customer service (the the exception of the very young guy who doesn't want to be there) which can't be forgotten.
|
1) Another thread, seriously?
2) Jax was a great shop to me when I lived in the LBC and I'm not too worried about their service department, but it will be hard to compete in terms of retail merchandise with Performance's prices. |
Their non-bike selection is horrible and they don't seem to believe that anyone actually buys cycling clothes, but the wrenches at Jax have always given me a fair shake. They're always willing to gift me miscellaneous screws, bolts, ferrules, etc. whenever I've needed them. They also came up huge on a friend's warranty issue so, I hope they stick around.

are they officially open?

With all this chatter, you'd think it was, wouldn't you? But no. Not open yet.

Performance's new store in Long Beach (@ Long Beach Towne Center) is coming "Spring 2011".
http://www.performancebike.com/bikes...1_416504_-1___ I am a little embarrassed to admit I didn't know about it before. My mom told me. She still gets the paper mailed catalogs and flyers and noticed the announcement on the back of one of them. Jax: I would definitely miss Jax, but mostly for their service dept. I rarely drop in there to buy equipment, although I do on occasion because they do have stuff, albeit usually at a higher price. Performance: I welcome it to the area. About freakin' time! I was tired of driving to Fountain Valley or Torrance. Performance used to have great prices but they've climbed higher over the years, but they still have a pretty good general selection and value. |
