Well Yes,

Quite a lot actually. Hundreds of times and Sat./Sun. rides, Tues./Thur. evening rides, remote start rides, pretty much everything.

Any questions? Next ride is today (Thur. June 2nd) with 6:00PM depart from Windrow Park in Irvine. Hope to see you there!

Hi Aprevo15,

There are two kinds of Gold riders:

1. Long miles but slow and
2. Long miles but fast

This Sunday most of the long and slow riders will be at the Eastern Sierra Double Century, so probably pretty fast this weekend on Sun.

How fast? Average is high teens to low 20's with the flat bits at 25 - 27 mph.

The Gold riders are quite safe though, so even though they're fast, and as long as you can do that, no worries!

I've been riding with OCRR for quite a few years. They are a great bunch of guys (Rick included ). There is no money involved (membership dues etc.) so just show up and ride. I assume you've seen their web site (since you know about the gold ride) - just print your route slip and you're good to go.
BTW, Rick is trying to scare you. The "gold" pace is around 20 mph on a very flat ride. This Sunday's gold is going to Mission Viejo (mostly uphill) so I reckon the average speed to the coffee stop won't be more than 16-17 mph (that's "on-the-bike" speed). That's the fast bunch. As Rick mentioned, there will be slower guys on the gold too.

That's a good idea, most people decide on the spot which route they want to take. How far/fast do you normally ride?
I won't be riding this Sunday, but hopefully I'll see you on one of the future rides.

not sure exactly how fast i can ride but 20mph on flat i think i can manage now. i won't know until i try. last time i went on a group ride it was a casual ride so i didn't push it.
