No, but I may buy some after reading your first ride report.

I have 404 tubulars. Are you planning to ride them every day or use them for race wheels?

So you want to get 404's? Why? It seems your dislike of tight fitting clothes would run in opposition to trying to be aero.

I think they are nice but a bit heavy for the price. A better buy would be Lightweight Obermeyers or Reynolds RZR

you amuse me. aero=aerodynamic, baggy shorts, not aero. zip 404's aero. you still haven't answered the question, why do you want 404's? In any case, if you want cool factor, why not get 808's? Go big or go home. Please post a pic of your rig once it's built up to your specifications.

btw, what's the agreement on tight shorts?

We concluded that tight shorts are only as ugly or as beautiful as their contents.

I find it mildly amusing that someone who dislikes clipless pedals, tight-fitting shorts, modern bicycle drivetrains, post-race interviews with cocky professional riders, helmet straps, and DoubleTap is ready to plunk down at least a dozen benjamins on a premium wheelset.

Only mildly? This is the highlight of my paper pushing day.

If you are over 140 lbs, you may want to get the 808's or the full disc rear instead. Stiffer for the kind of power you will be producing.

Make sure you get three sets. One for your rain/damp pavement tires, one for your general training, and one set for fast rides. If you use one set for all types of riding, the wheels may not go as fast since they tend to develop speed "memory" much the same as some rechargable batteries. And three sets of carbon specific brake pads for the same reason. Of course, if all of your rides are at full speed, you don't have that problem.

With baggy shorts, you may want to get the tubular version, which have the tires glued to the rims. They will handle the flapping noise from your shorts better.

I've got some 808s on my walmart beach cruiser. They go great with my great with my Garmin Cervelo kit. I just can't figure out where to mount the DI 2 battery. Maybe in the basket? It really sucks when I don't get unclipped in time and I fall over and spill my big gulp.

I actually like this cervelo4me guy. I wonder if he is one of the advertisers here, who posts all that stuff just to attract more traffic to the forum.

if i weren't saving up for a crank based power meter, you wouldn't have the chance to look at these wheels (i would have already bought them):

https://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum/Sl...lset_P3351399/

that is a steal of a deal on a solid training wheelset. $450 bucks for powertap with a dura ace front hub wheel. i could buy that set right now and flip it on fleabay or craigslist for a decent profit. trust me, you will appreciate having a power meter much more than the 404's.

Why worry about the precision of a powertap and the bulk of an OP rim when you can get a Reynolds RZR and an SRM Rotor 3d for $9,000 shipped?

Might as well go for front and rear discs. That would be so pimp.

Not that it remotely pertains, but what is the longest ride you've done so far, C4M?

Why close your account? When you give up heroin, you don't have to make a big dramatic production about to close the deal, just walk away from it.

...you're not just threatening to close your account to invite coddling again are you?

And why are we cranky when I only asked you the longest ride you've done so far? That's the beauty of free-market capitalism; we don't have to warrant our expensive equipment. (God knows my fat @$$ isn't worthy of my power meter and Dura Ace C50's.)
