Going for a ride in LA/Santa Barbara

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of taking my bike to LA this weekend and was wondering where I could bike around. I'll be in the Santa Barbara/Korea town area. Might swing down to Irvine as well.

Every time I've visited, it was in my car and thinking back... I don't know if I should even bring my bike! (Potholes, cars cutting each other off, etc.)

Also, I MIGHT be willing to drive out in the morning to get to really special places y'all might have in mind.

Sorry for the weird non-cohesive "paragraphs".

It says your're from Chandler Arizona. Are you coming from Arizona to Santa Barbara and then to Los Angeles' Korea Town? Or are you driving from Santa Barbara and then driving to Los Angeles?

If you're already familiar with the Santa Barbara area and places like Solvang area, then you already have some nice riding. And some nice climbs.

More likely.

While in LA - you can ride Griffith Park, drive up the the Angeles Crest Highway and do the climb to Mt. Wilson. (look up La Canada on the map).

Orange County (Irvine) ride out towards the beach and ride PCH south to Laguna. (Look up "Back Bay Trail." It leads into Irvine.

Oops, my bad. I always say Santa Barbara for some reason.

Santa Monica/Koreatown and maybe Irvine.

That's it! I meant to say "Drive out to La Canada and ride up to Mt. Wilson. If you're not up for climbing; you can head south to the Rose Bowl from there.

Another So Calif favorite is Glendora Mountain Road to Glendora Ridge Road to Mt. Baldy Village. That will be about 20 miles one way. If you had a chance to follow this years Tour of California, then the riders went from Mt. Baldy Village to what's called the ski lifts. Its a huge parking lot. That will take you up some steep switchbacks for another 3 miles or so. On weekends you will see quite a few riders there.

I'll try and do the Mt. Wilson one Sunday morning. Tomorrow... Maybe the Glendora one or just ride around LA? (This will depend heavily on where I pick a spot to sleep tonight). Or should I switch these two around?

Driving to LA in 1-2 hours! Yell at me if you see me climbing impossibly slow
