Is Laguna Canyon road work done?

Anyone know if the road work on Laguna Canyon is done? I was about to leave for my daily run and was thinking about going that way. Last time I was down there they had the pavement all grated and it was like pedaling over a 2 mile washboard.

From El Toro to PCH, there's new blacktop, but the bike lane isn't completely painted yet. There are some sprayed-on marks where the fog line should be, but it's not the permanent lane paint yet.

I just rode it today. The bike lane lines are missing but no washboard. Looks like the bike lane is a bit bigger in places. <fingers crossed>

That's good news.

I didn't end up climbing San Jaoquin today. Instead I went up the back of Newport Coast. Cool thing happened descending towards the ocean. I went around that first corner there and the rode straight into a cloud. Apparently that cooler air we were expecting was being held up by the hill there. Temperature dropped about 20 degrees when I went in. Felt awesome to cool off for the first time in a few days.

Its so important to be careful descending into a cloud like that. I did that once. When I got to the bottom of the hill, making that sweeping right turn onto PCH, the white painted line was so slick that I lost traction on it (going about 24 mph). Luckily, my rear wheel bit into the pavement when I moved off the line, but I thought for sure I was going down.

I rode up the Canyon yesterday, the new surface is really nice...

Having said that, I saw Roadie was involved in an awfull Crash on the 133/Laguna Canyon road which turns into Quaill Hill before the Freeway...around 10:00 am Saturday Oct 29th (Yesterday).

The only thing I can guess that might have happened is that he clipped the left turn median and landed in the south-bound fast lane...a long distance and a long fall.

I didn't see it happen but I stopped to see if I could help but two Police Cars showed up..

I sincerely hope the Guy is OK, I said hi to Him (and his friends) as they passed a short while earlier.

Does anyone know how he is?
