Saturday!! ATOC!!! On Mount BaldyBaldyBaldy (echo effect)!!!!!
Who's going to Baldy tomorrow? Where will you be? How can we find you?
Lauretta and I will be motorcycling up to the switchbacks, in our yellow TdF timekeepers moto suits and a little red motorbike. It's our 1-year anniversary, since we met at the OCRebels pizza party after watching this stage last year on 5/21.
"If you're not there, you'd better be deaaaad or in jail; and if you're in jail... break ouuuuuttt!!!!"
Hahaha--I miss the campy old Monster Truck Rally Commercials (Clicky.)

We'll probably meet up at the Round Table Pizza on Foothill after Baldy Road is opened back up and we've had enough fun on the mountain.

Riding like its 1990
I'll be there with my son and brother in law watching somewhere on GRR close to the KOM at GRR/Baldy
Will have a pickup truck with all the tailgating necessities and a big umbrella. Will be riding my son around on his trail a bike on my MTB.
We'll look for you

I'm sitting in my friends cabin as we speak. I'll be chillin' on the deck as they pass about 25 feet from me!

I had to settle for watching on TV but how cool was that seeing that EPIC stage on our local roads?
I get a lot more enjoyment out of GMR than they do though - they weren't on it for very long.

Yup, neat seeing the road we know and love on TV raced by the pros. Now I wanna see some of those rides uploaded to Strava like they did last year.

I was there, watched from GMR/GRR intersection in my jeep. Didn't want to ride, just watch, met some real cool people. Brought water and a pump to help my club riders and other cyclists riding up. My location was so fun, got to watch CHP yell at all the knuckle-head cyclists who seemed to not know a race was on.

Me and my jeep in this photo. Great photos, thanks for posting. Yea, that area was perfect, the one chippy was nice but stern. The team cars were crazy around that corner, trying to pass each other.

Was at the KOM on GRR and Baldy Rd. Madhouse in the morning! Then got a nice little ride in with my 5 year old, grilled some Carne Asada up and drank beer in the shade. Son got an Amgen cowbell he put to good use too.
No "epic ride" for me but a great family time day.

Awesome Photos! I wasn't there but viewed it on the telly. Perfect day.
I rode the GMR only once but only up to the GRR which took me forever but after watching these pro riders making it look easy I need to go all the way up to Baldy. After cycling the GMR, and riding my motorcycle from GRR to Baldy, you really can't tell how steep and off camber it is on the telly. They had a close up shot of Horner and he was spinning on the big ring with no hint of pain (except for the very end). Anyone know what the peloton's average speed going up the GMR?

Team car order is assigned by the officials, and changes based on what's happening in the race. And there are various neutral and press vehicles that get managed by the officials as well. If the drivers try to fight for position they'll likely get fined. Most of the drivers of the team vehicles are ex-bike racers and drive like it...

I went to both Stage 6 & Stage 7. Mt Baldy was the bestest stage ever. Quite a party atmosphere. Never seen so many nice bikes not too mention fit riders.
Here are a couple of videos and a few pictures that I took. These were taken on the climb on Glendora Ridge Road leaving Mt Baldy Village. Hope you enjoy!

We were at the GMR/GRR section the second time they came through sitting by the road closure listening to everyone bug out on the cops about the road being closed (for the good of all). Jeepseahawk: Turqoise jeep? I could have used your pump earlier in the day...caught a flat just past the shack and had to patch up behind the Rapha truck (they were no help because they were out riding...which I would be doing had I been in their shoes). The race blasted through that section. GMR must have done the same to the peloton...the race was pretty strung out by that point.

Yes, teal Jeep, I pulled over several times to loan the pump out. Once prior to shack for two dudes.

Saw the stage up close this picture is just before the last turn to the finish in the parking lot and these guys were flying. Amazing how strong they were coming up and had enough for a full out sprint. We came up from Glendora and watched them go by at the Mt Baldy Glendora Ridge Rd Then up to the finish line to watch the finish. What a show!

Sebastian Salas (the guy who won the polkadot jersey for tour of CA) did gate->shack in 33:55, with only 249w of power. By contrast, I do it in 41:10 with 259w of power. Power to weight in full effect (Internets say Salas weighs 138lbs....I..uh...don't).
Awesome to see so many rides on strava....some with power data.
I really do wonder what Horners time was.
