UV sleeves
 

I am getting tired of putting sunscreen on my arms and my two tone upper body. (yeah, I need more time at the beach:lol:) Anyways, I am thinking about getting some UV arm sleeves to keep out the UV radiation and hopefully keep me cooler.

Anyone have any experience with them?
I assume they are thinner than arm warmers?

I love mine. They are made by specialized. Supposedly they have a 50 rating. I got them to keep the sun off my arms and thankfully they are good at allowing air and keeping cool. I would highly recomend you getting a pair.

Pearl Izumi sun skins. Thinner than armwarmers, same thickness as a summer jersey. If you're riding along the coast -I find they provide a bit of warmth in the morning when it's cool/damp, and then they're comfortable until the temp gets up in the 70s. At the point - I roll them off and put on the sunscreen.

I'm going to start wearing mine. I may look for some even thinner ones if they work well. They do seem a little bit warmer than riding without but it keeps you from having to apply/reapply, sweat running down, dirt sticking to sticky arms etc. I feel the sunscreen makes me feel hot too.

I do know that they are great at cooling if you splash some water on them while riding. May get leg skins too if I really like them.

I would try them on in the store since they come in different sizes and tightness. Some, like Specialized, are really tight like a compression shirt. I just bought some XL Pearl Izumi IQ sun sleeves because they were a little looser. I haven't had much chance to use them in the heat yet. They all seem to be a lot tighter than a long sleeve jersey. One of my favorite jerseys was the Performance UPF white jersey which was cooler in the heat than short sleeves (but isn't sold anymore.)

If you want to stay cool and get great UV protection, get the De Soto Arm Coolers. I use them on every ride and even when it's extremely hot, they stay cool. It's all in their material, which has tiny holes that allows the sweat to come out, which keeps it cool as the air passes over it. I would recommend ordering 1 smaller size they what would fit as they tend to stretch a little over time. I am using mediums.

I use the Desoto leg coolers. (I also have the arm coolers, but haven't used them since I have been using long-sleeve jerseys.) The leg coolers do a perfect job of protecting the legs w/o using sunblock, which surprised me since you can practically see through them.

Heartily recommend Craft ones... feels cooler than any others I tried! Ended up getting total 5 over time... 2 for myself, 3 for my family members...

I'm actually thinking of trying a few out. I want to try a summer long sleeve jersey out too, I have a few 'summer' jerseys that feel like I'm putting on a coat due to the fabric feel. Wind still gets through but once stopped its not so comfy.

There is also black color as well as white.
I commuted with this thing all summer last year and was better to have it on than not (Riding on sun). If it gets really hot, I might spray some water on it but it dries out so quick anyways... (it's almost cold initially as it evaporates).

I use the Pear Izumi Sun Skins. They are pretty nice, but they can make you pretty warm sometimes.

I have 3 pairs of PI, and they work great - the warmth isnt a issue unless it gets in the 90s, but by then I am ready to fall over anyway. They were cheap, but I am not happy with how long they are (way too long). I wear a 36 sleeve on my shirts and these have 2+ inches extra length that I have to roll over at the top. Large was too small, XL is too long. It would be nice if we could get colors other than black and white

I got a couple of them using some coupons I had for Dicks Sporting goods, and I wear them under my jersey. Since they are full shirts I also end up wearing them when I run, or even if I'm just going to be outside for a few hours at the park. I might feel a bit odd wearing just sleeves on those activities. You can see through them in white, so they probably shouldn't be worn alone.

I have a pair of Pace Sportswear UV arm covers. I really like them and they work very well. I may be a little warm at first but I quickly get used to them unless it's really hot. I'll probably try the Craft ones since the Pace one seems to run a tad bit short. Then again, my arms are long...

It's been a couple of years that I've been using regularly to prevent sunburns since I don't like to use liquid sun blockers.

I don't like pearl izumis cuz they are too thick and rather hot, I've tried several brands but the best are from some small mfg out of Korea, flat stitching and titanium-something embedded in fibers that actually keep your arms cooler while keeping a great deal of UV out. These occasionally come up eBay for little less than $15/pair.

I believe they're called Elixir sun sleeves and used to go by the brand name Naska. I read online that they were independently tested to block 95% of UV light (at least in certain colors). I'm thinking about picking some up since my Pearl Izumis feel like they'll be too hot in 80+ degree temps.
