Where are you riding this weekend ? 7/14 -7/15 ?
Birthday Celebration for me tonight, no probably no riding for me tomorrow! :innocent::twitchy:
But on Sunday probably Lytle Creek/Devore Combo! |
Happy Birthday, G!
Fox finally returned my fork and shock this week (I blew the seals on a Grand Canyon North Rim singletrack trip), so I am heading out to Turnbull Canyon tomorrow morning. The Habitat Authority is also having signups for their volunteer trail watch program, so I'm thinking of signing up for that. http://www.habitatauthority.org/pdf/...il%20Watch.pdf Sunday, I'm smoking a 13lb brisket and working on some patio furniture, so no riding for me. |
Happy birthday!
Can't ride Sat, got some family things to do, but I hope to get out Sun. It isn't supposed to get too hot. I haven't done a good over 40 mile ride in a while. Probably head out from home in San Dimas and loop around Victoria Gardens. Try and keep a relatively flat ride. |
Happy birthday Genaro!

Happy Birthday Genaro!
Busy weekend here too, but will go for an early Saturday ride up Lytle, hopefully will have time to tackle shooting range/Final Climb again. |
HB Genaro!
More SART for me. I know I'm spoiled, but it'd be nice to ride somewhere else for a change. |

78 Escondido -> Ramona
It's the shortest route from point A to point B, but I've always had reservations about safety of this route. After seeing that there's a fairly well-traveled segment on Strava, I've decided to go and check it out. There's no shoulder for about half of the distance. Cars keep coming more or less non-stop, maybe 1 car per minute. Passing is prohibited (double solid yellow lane almost all the way.) When I saw other cars coming and I couldn't ride on the shoulder, I had to stop and dismount. In the end, my attempt looked like this http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=261728 The whole route took about 30 min. less than my standard route via Ysabel Creek -> Bandy Canyon -> Highland Valley, but I'd describe it as "barely tolerable" and I don't want to do that again, at least not with this much traffic. The attempt placed me dead last on the leaderboard for the Strava segment. Looking at other people's attempts, I see that the vast majority of them rode up the hill without stopping or sometimes with one stop. I have no idea how they do that. Either I'm missing something or they all have a death wish. From Ramona, went to Santa Ysabel and Mesa Grande. As usual, did not see a single cyclist in either direction. On Mesa Grande, there were almost no cars, either. |
40mi on the SART. Still had a great time - biking with a power meter just makes things 10x more interesting for me otherwise I think I'd be bored to tears riding this trail every other day. Also hit 183bpm on the SART...probably my highest ever outside of the 2 cyclocross races I did. The trail was so empty this afternoon, saw about 25-30 people in 40 miles.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/199776515 GP, no riding for me in San Diego....I'm tethered to the house right now due to a newborn. I get 70-120minutes every other day, and I try to make them count. |
