We are GMR Virgins....
....and are planning to ride to the Baldy Ski lifts this Saturday. Were can we refill our water bottles along the way?

When you get into the village there is a fire station on your left hand side a little bit up the road, and there's a water fountain there.

Be a little cautious on that last descent - it's steep and there's a stop sign at the bottom. You turn left at the stop sign and about 100 yards up is that water fountain. You can also stop at the little convenience store a little further up on the right if you want a soda or something.
There is basically no water between the base of GMR and the village. I usually bring a camelbak if it's going to be hot although you can certainly make it on two bottles. (usually, listen to me... I've done the village once. LMAO but I do like being prepared and running out of water is the worst)

Dude, if I left an IPA under that tunnel the homeless dudes would be all over that. Plus, you'd have to hope I didn't get thirsty on the way to drop it off, so there's that. And there always seems to be at least one kid sitting there smoking weed just south of that tunnel. It's a fine area.
Say, speaking of SGRT - is it blocked off yet by the 5? I took a little detour to the LART on Sunday to avoid any chance of blockage.

Aight, I'll leave a six pack under the bridge, keep a sharp eye out for it.
Sounds like a nice gentle ride... watch out for attack squirrels on SGRT - they're suicidal.
Make sure you time your ride so you benefit from the generally no wind conditions in the morning and the heavy sea breeze in the afternoon.

Is Jordan part of your crew? He mentioned riding up with some virginites on Saturday. I'd laugh if he was your brother!
These are the places in the village where water is available. Post office has a ftn outside, the lodge and across form the lodge a small ftn next to a small shed/garge looking structure.
Restrooms at the lodge as well as the park/visitor center just above teh lodge on teh left hand side. Pretty nice facility there.

....UGH! That last 3 miles to the ski lifts was brutal, my life past before my eyes around the third(?) switch back. The ride renewed my respect for pro riders and/or anyone else who does this.

Yeah, I'm well aware of my chicken-ness. I'm uh, waiting for the weather to cool down. Yeah, that's it. Oh yeah, I forgot, I was having problems with my front chainrings (since repaired). Of course, now I have a 36 up there instead of a 34, so hmmm... I promise you I'll do it this year even if i have to stop at each switch back to ponder the sky.

I've ridden up to the Baldy Lifts. Think that's been my most difficult experience yet and I've done quite a few mountain rides. I may/will have to try it again when it's cooler. Perhaps I can do it without stopping. I stopped twice... Once near to the top of the switch backs and again on the straight run to the top (the sign).
