San Diego Riders
Hi, I live in escondido CA.(suburb of san diego) I would like to start a weekly ride for the area. I am thinking about a medium paced 30-40ish mile no drop ride there really isint any flat around here. So it would be some light climbing every ride. I am thinking about starting and ending at bike bling on grand Ave. Is there anyone else in the area that would like to join? So far its just me for the ride but It would be rad to build it to like 30 riders.

There is a couple of existing clubs doing regular rides out of this general area. Check out Ranchos (starting in North County Fair) and North County Cycle Club (starting in the restaurant row in San Marcos).

This, would be a no club required ride. and its not a club thing. Plus the existing clubs expect you to get up at something like 7AM for a ride. (not my cup o tea this time of year). I was a member of a escondido based clubs forum and thier members seemed to look down thier nose becuase I was a super noobish at the time-David

LOL Ranchos is NOT a no drop ride. They will do their best to drop any new faced rider that shows up.
Do you night ride? If so I might be up for one soon on the roadie while my MTB is getting fixed.

Yup, I ride at all different times. I have even managed here to romona and back. I like hitting up the 78 becuase its a good smooth ride and if its not rush hour there is not much traffic.-David

I hate the 78. It's a death trap, even if it's not rush hour. If I go in that direction, I take Ysabel Creek to Bandy Canyon to Highland Valley Road.

NCCC rides at 8:30 am in the fall/winter and 8 am in the spring/summer. It's a no-drop ride and they're very helpful to new riders.

much better route I loathe the 78 the last time I rode it was a an event (tour de Poway) and generally avoid it.
I also think the Hodges Bridge to Pomerado to Highland is a better option as well

I would love to ride other routes, I just do not know that many. I liked the 78 becuase of how smooth it is. there is a rest pull out about 10 miles in that is a good turn around point if you do not want to deal with the switch backs.-David
PS: shoot me a PM if you want to go riding any time
