los angeles - hit and run capitol of america

https://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?se...les&id=9007373

LOS FELIZ, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Damian Kevitt used to be a healthy, avid cyclist. Now, he's in intense care and missing a leg.

Kevitt was the victim of a hit-and-run in which he was struck, dragged and left for dead as he was riding his bike by a freeway onramp near Griffith Park.

That's terrible! Hit and run capitol for sure but I'd include peds and other autos as well. Too many people just don't care anymore. I've stopped at flashing red bus lights, crosswalks for peds and see other drives blow by. Hell, won't even slow down for children. One that blew by a red light bus was a Omni Trans bus driver. If I had been able to catchup after the stop, I would have gottena bus # and reported him.

We used to ride across PCH to Seal beach from SART. Gina was well within the bike lane when a big motor home flew by missing her by a foot. That's quite a sight to see, your wife nearly taken out by a huge RV. No more streets for Gina other than low traffic mtn roads. All it takes is one time and people don't care enough to pay attention anymore. Even if they hit you, too many aren't stopping anymore!

I don 't believe I have ever felt worse for a cyclist than I do for this man. Other stories indicate that he got hit on Zoo Drive at the 5 freeway, I have cycled past that spot hundreds of times. The manner in which this took place is despicable. Anybody aware of where he is hospitalized?

"I didn't see him"

is what we'll hear as soon as somebody fingers the perp. This really is a dreadful accident.

It appears a $25,000 reward is being offered for information on this hit and run. Hopefully that will create some leads for the police.
