Glendora Mountain Road to Glendora Ridge Road to Mt. Baldy Village & back New Years
Hi All SoCal road cyclists,
For this New Years Day, have your climbing legs start the Year 2014 right with one of our favorite
Southern California Climbs , GMR/GRR to Mt. Baldy Village and back.
On New Years Day, i.e. January 1st, 2014 you may start the GMR/GRR ride from either Encanto
Park in Duarte at 8:00AM or Bounder Springs Road in Glendora at 8:30 AM.
I know some riders prefer Encanto over Boulder Springs or vice versa so (hopefully) this way everyone
will be happy. The Encanto starters are encouraged to stop for a moment at Boulder Springs to meet
and greet the Boulder Springs starters because, even though we may like different starting places, we
can all get along!
Most of you know this route like the back of your hand (or better in most cases) but any of you who do
not, please reply to this thread with any questions or comments and I will advise.
There is an optional lunch stop at Mount Baldy Village, at the Lodge, though here again if you prefer to
stop at the Trout Farm a bit further up the road, that's just fine too. Since this is a Wednesday, there
will be lunch (but no breakfast) at Mt. Baldy Lodge.
Other options: I like to return via GRR/GMR but for those of you who prefer to loop back down Mt. Baldy
road, that's just fine as well.
It may (or may not) be cold on The Day, so please check the weather forecast before you depart and
dress accordingly. We will have one re-group stop at The Shed and, of course, at Mt. Baldy Lodge.
Any questions?
Please feel free to invite any cycling friends who may not be on bikeforums.net / Southern California.
Hope to see you there!
Rick / OCRR
I will be wearing my red/white OCRR jersey and riding my white/black/red KHS Team bike. I drive a dark
green Miata and will be starting from Boulder Springs.
