Good morning. We're renting a house in Oceanside for two weeks April/May. Looking to increase our training for a lot of cycling this coming summer. Expecting to be doing 30-50 mi per day while we're there. I am inquiring here about routes, LBS's, group rides, etc?

That's God's Country down there for cycling - have fun!

During the week, if you want to go fast and flat, join the Tuesday ride through Camp Pendleton. Meet up at the Starbucks in Carlsbad at PCH and Grand at 8:30.

Another good ride starts at Daniel's Apple Market on 76 and Mission Rd in Bonsall on Wednesdays at 9 am. PM me if you're interested and I'll forward the weekly route plan. There's always a lot of climbing. Bring a GPS.

We were in Oceanside a few days Feb/14 and rented bikes from Alan's Bike Shop on South Coast Highway, who claim to be "North Country's No 1 Bike Shop". A tall claim to be sure, but the bikes and service were fine.

Thanks. We're bringing our own bikes. This is a "training" vacation, even tho I'll be working everyday, too. Need to put in the miles for upcoming Ride the Rockies in June and Provence in Sept. :)
